nanomon 0.1.8

@justrach justrach released this 21 Oct 09:36

Smooth resizing everywhere

Zooming, tiling and entering or leaving full screen are now as smooth as dragging the window's edge. The new frame reaches the screen together with the new size (nanoui 0.6.4).

@justrach justrach released this 21 Oct 03:40

Smoother resizing

Resizing the window is smooth now. During a resize only the size changes draw, each on a drawable that's ready, so nothing competes with them (nanoui 0.6.3).

Updates

If an update is waiting, nanomon keeps checking, so restarting always installs the newest version.

nanomon 0.1.6

@justrach justrach released this 20 Oct 06:23

nanomon in the menu bar

nanomon now sits in the menu bar beside the clock. It shows CPU, memory, the network's rates and the chip's temperature, in the menu bar's own color. Click it for a panel with:

  • the CPU over its last minute, user and system, and how hot the chip runs (and its hottest core)
  • every core as a ring, efficiency and performance cores apart
  • the five busiest processes
  • the GPU's load, memory, temperature and renderer as dials
  • load averages and uptime

Open nanomon brings up the window. The gear chooses what the menu bar shows and quits nanomon. Closing the window now leaves nanomon running in the menu bar.

Temperatures come from the chip's own sensors and need no admin rights.

nanomon 0.1.5

@justrach justrach released this 19 Oct 14:58

nanomon 0.1.5 for macOS 13 and later (Apple silicon).

Finder launch compatibility

Releases 0.1.3 and earlier accidentally required macOS 27 at the executable level, even though the app bundle advertised macOS 13. Finder rejected those bundles on Sequoia. This release retains the macOS 13 / M1 build target introduced in 0.1.4.

Packaging now launches the actual .app through LaunchServices and requires it to render its first frame offscreen before distribution. A successful command-line launch alone is no longer enough. The release workflow also supports checking existing release bundles on Sequoia.

Verification

  • Reproduced Finder-style launch rejection with 0.1.3 on Sequoia.
  • Verified the new 0.1.5 bundle launches and renders on macOS Sequoia 15.7.9.
  • Developer ID signed and notarized by Apple; notarization tickets validated for the app and disk image.
  • Update manifest and download checksums verified.

Download nanomon-macos-arm64.dmg, drag nanomon to Applications, and replace any older copy. The ZIP and manifest are also included for the built-in updater.

nanomon 0.1.4

@justrach justrach released this 19 Oct 03:06

nanomon 0.1.4 for macOS 13 and later (Apple silicon).

  • Opens on older macOS. 0.1.3 and earlier were built for the macOS they were built on, so systems before macOS 27 refused to open them ("You can't use this version of the application"). This release runs on macOS 13 and later, on any Apple silicon Mac.

If nanomon wouldn't open for you, download this disk image. On macOS 27, 0.1.3 updates itself.

Signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple: open the disk image, drag nanomon to Applications, and open it.

@justrach justrach released this 19 Oct 02:29

nanomon 0.1.3 for macOS (Apple silicon, macOS 13+).

nanomon now updates itself. It checks this repository's releases shortly after launch and every few hours, downloads a newer version in the background, and keeps it only if its checksum matches and it carries the same Developer ID signature. A "Restart to update" button then appears at the bottom of the sidebar; if you quit instead, the update is installed for the next launch.

Amber buttons stay amber under the pointer, in light and dark mode.

This is the first version with the updater, so install it from the disk image once; later versions arrive on their own.

Signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple: open the disk image, drag nanomon to Applications, and open it.
