New in JWPlayerKit 4.28.0 (iOS)

  • VoiceOver overrides for title/description. New per-playlist-item props — titleAccessibilityLabel, titleAccessibilityHint, descriptionAccessibilityLabel, descriptionAccessibilityHint — let you override what VoiceOver reads for the title and description shown in the player UI, instead of reading the visible text itself. iOS only.
  • Fullscreen exit reason. onFullScreenExitRequested/onFullScreenExit now carry a reason field on iOS describing why fullscreen was exited (e.g. the user tapped the dismiss button, tapped the fullscreen toggle, or it was triggered externally via setFullscreen(false)). iOS only; Android's payload is unchanged.
  • IMA ad tags are now passed directly to Google IMA instead of being pre-fetched by the SDK first. This fixes VMAP-returning ad tags failing to play (error 1009) and IMA macros like [GOOGLE_INSTREAM_VIDEO_NONCE] being dropped when using the adVmap config — both now behave the same as they already did on Android. (fixes #245)
  • IMA ad breaks are now suppressed while a Chromecast session is active, instead of continuing to play (and count an impression) on the sender device where nobody can see them. There is currently no opt-out for this behavior. This applies to Google IMA only — VAST and IMA DAI ad playback during casting are unaffected.
  • Fixed an ad-session teardown issue where removing the player view while a Chromecast session was active could leave ad breaks in a broken state or cause playback to resume off-screen after casting ended.
  • Fixed a deadlock that could occur if stop() was called while the player was still initializing.
  • Fixed the language/audio-track button being incorrectly disabled on streams with multiple audio tracks and no caption tracks.
  • Fixed captions occasionally rendering in the wrong font.
