The first stable release for Jellyfin 12, and the biggest update yet - 22 release
candidates of work since v10.11.30.2. Jellyfin 10.11 is still fully supported.

Jellyfin 12:

  • Full support for Jellyfin 12, including the final 12.0.0 release
  • Jellyfin 10.11 continues to receive the same updates

New features:

  • List templates: one-click starting points on the Create tab
  • Hide when empty: a list disappears while nothing matches, and returns on its own
  • Group results into collections: turn an item search into a collection of collections
  • Collection and Playlist media types: build collections of collections or playlists
  • Smart collections now carry genres, studios, parental rating and total runtime
  • Smart list badge on generated covers, with a setting to turn it off
  • Integration API so other tools can create and manage smart lists
  • Bumpers, and random group selection
  • New rule field: User Rating
  • Date rules can include items whose date is missing from metadata
  • New settings for default media types and for hiding new lists when empty

External lists:

  • New providers: ListenBrainz and Scrob
  • Music lists match tracks via MusicBrainz, one library item per matched track
  • User-Agent setting for when a provider starts blocking requests

Sorting:

  • Least Recently Watched Round Robin, and Shuffled Round Robin
  • Round Robin can group by Collection and order items within each group
  • Crossover episodes that aired close together play back-to-back, with an Air Window setting
  • Play Count (all users) and Last Played (all users)

Improvements:

  • Large speed-up for expensive rules - people, languages, resolution and more are read once per refresh
  • Parent tags, studios and genres are found at every level above an item, including the library
  • Only fully watched episodes advance the Least Recently Watched rotation
  • Weekly cleanup removes leftover playlists and collections whose list is gone
  • Rule groups are named consistently throughout; the sort option is now Rule Group Order

Bug fixes:

  • Titles containing numbers sort correctly - "Season 2" before "Season 10"
  • The Resolution sort did nothing and left lists sorted by name
  • Episodes came back unordered when Season/Episode was combined with another sort
  • A series showed a play count of 0 even when every episode was watched
  • Items with no release date no longer match "before", "older than" and "not equals"
  • IMDb lists, charts and awards failed to load with a "Forbidden" error
  • Configuration pages loaded blank behind a reverse proxy, or with Cloudflare Rocket Loader
  • Smart collections disappeared when the TMDbBoxSets plugin was installed
  • Duplicates left behind by a failed deletion are detected and cleaned up
  • List names can contain : * ? < > | " / and \ again
  • Saving a list now reports why it failed instead of appearing to do nothing
  • A failed save no longer discards what you typed
  • Deleting a list right after editing it no longer brings it back

Existing lists may change:

  • Rules checking parent values now look at every level above an item, so they match more
  • Music lists are the most visible case: artist folder and library values now count
  • Similar To applies within its own rule group instead of filtering the whole list
  • Smart collections now carry aggregated genres/studios/runtime, so other lists may match them
  • Include-only checkboxes are migrated automatically to Name rules
