Citewatch 0.1.2

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 09 Oct 20:20

The status bar no longer disappears when you look at the log: while the Output panel or another non-file editor has focus, it keeps showing the last project.

The log now says which project Citewatch chose, or why it found none, for example no project: open a file inside a repository in a workspace that holds many repositories.

Citewatch 0.1.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 09 Oct 20:14

Citewatch now works in a workspace that holds many repositories, such as a whole ~/projects folder.

It follows the file you are editing to its own project: the nearest directory with CITATION.cff or .zenodo.json, else with .git. The status bar shows that project's DOI. Before, Citewatch looked only at the workspace folder's root and showed nothing there. .zenodo.json and CITATION.cff in subfolders are now checked too, except under node_modules.

Citewatch 0.1.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 09 Oct 20:06

First release of Citewatch, a VS Code extension that makes every release citable without surprises.

Zenodo's GitHub integration fails quietly: the release appears on GitHub and the DOI never does. Citewatch catches the usual causes in the editor, before you tag.

What it does

  • Checks .zenodo.json as you type: valid JSON, the six required fields, upload type, access right, creators written Family, Given, ORCID check digits, and the licence against Zenodo's live licence vocabulary (apache-2.0, not Apache-2.0).
  • Checks CITATION.cff: required keys, date-released format, ORCIDs, DOIs, and versions written without a v. Schema validation and completion come from the official Citation File Format 1.2.0 schema.
  • Keeps versions in step: warns on every file that disagrees among package.json, pyproject.toml, CITATION.cff and .zenodo.json. Set Version Everywhere writes one version into all of them.
  • Shows your DOI in the status bar: the concept DOI and the newest archived version. It turns amber when Zenodo's webhook is missing from the repository, so a release is not published without its DOI.
  • Copies the concept DOI, the latest version DOI, or a shields.io DOI badge, which vsce accepts in an extension README where Zenodo's own SVG badge is refused.

Read-only towards Zenodo and GitHub, with no runtime dependencies and no telemetry. Unofficial; not affiliated with Zenodo, CERN or GitHub.
