Lights. Camera... Loading...

Hm. This turned out to be bigger than I planned. Please report any issues with updating, playback, and else to the issue tracker.

  • Added an optional Exclude from Windows Defender button to improve performance.
  • Hardened player and app security.
  • Fixed the Import from Stremio button remaining disabled after all required fields were filled.
  • Completely removed the Go sidecar.
  • Raffi now uses MediaBunny for most playback, probing, and transmuxing.
  • For codecs MediaBunny can’t currently transmux, Raffi now ships a much smaller custom FFmpeg build from https://github.com/kaleidal/ffmpeg-builds, significantly reducing the app bundle size.
  • Removed Raffi’s built-in torrenting implementation. Torrent handling is now delegated to Limbo (https://github.com/kaleidal/limbo), simplifying Raffi’s playback stack and keeping torrent-specific logic isolated. Limbo is still WIP and the integration might be unstable especially on Windows, prefer to use direct streams for now.
  • Completely overhauled the loading screen and playback error experience.
  • The UI is now properly responsive instead of relying on manual zoom levels, and the old 16:9 window aspect-ratio lock has been removed.
  • Added new and improved Discord Rich Presence.
  • Improved stream reliability, seeking, and cleanup between streams. Subsequent streams should start faster, repeated seeking should be much more reliable, and network-related failures now produce clearer errors.
  • Removed a large amount of dead code and architectural debt.
  • Optimized startup and playback paths throughout the app. Startup times and TTFF (time to first frame) should be noticeably faster, although TTFF still depends heavily on network conditions and stream quality.
  • Moved filters in the Streams Popup back to the top of the list and made them dynamic.
  • Removed analytics.
  • Raffi now properly respects the Auto Skip setting when automatically playing the next episode.
  • If Allow Torrenting is disabled, the Play Modal will no longer show the magnet option.
  • Added an Upload Subtitle button to the Subtitle Modal, with support for .srt and .vtt files.
  • Due to current MediaBunny limitations, embedded subtitles are temporarily unavailable.
  • The Audio Modal now always labels sources by language instead of codec.
  • Buttons now have a squishy click animation. Very important engineering work.

Please note that this list is not exhaustive. This release is a major architectural overhaul of Raffi, so a number of smaller changes, fixes, and improvements may have been omitted.
