Install VivoType v0.1.0

VivoType is a fully local macOS dictation app — everything runs on your Mac, nothing leaves your device.

Requires an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 / M2 / M3 / M4) running macOS 13 or later.

Option 1 — Paste this in Terminal (recommended)

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/kalpitt/VivoType/main/install.sh | bash

Opens without any security warning. Done in under a minute.

Option 2 — Homebrew

brew tap kalpitt/vivotype
brew install --cask vivotype

Option 3 — Manual download

  1. Download VivoType-v0.1.0.zip below
  2. Unzip it — you'll get VivoType.app
  3. Drag VivoType.app to your Applications folder
  4. The first time you open it, right-click → Open (macOS will ask you to confirm once — this is normal for apps not sold through the App Store)

First launch

VivoType will guide you through a short setup on first launch. It downloads a small speech model (~150 MB) once and keeps everything on your device after that.
