What's Changed in Instant Timer 2026.2
This is a new version for the NV Access Add-on Store. The 2026.1 package is left unchanged.
Changes
- New layer shortcut:
NVDA+Y(wasNVDA+E), to avoid a conflict with the Instant Access add-on. - Renaming a running timer no longer stops it. Changing only the label keeps the countdown going; changing the duration still resets it. Saving is now announced.
- Report all (
A) now includes the stopwatch when it is running or paused. - Active timers survive an NVDA crash: they are saved on every change, not only when NVDA exits.
- Settings are saved safely:
config.jsonis written atomically, so an interrupted save can no longer wipe your labels and durations. - Reset to factory defaults now warns that running timers will be stopped.
Fixes
- The command layer always closes, even if a command fails, so Space and the other layer keys are never left captured.
- Opening a second duration dialog now focuses the one already open.
- Silencing or resetting no longer cuts off other NVDA sounds; only the alarm is stopped.
- The early warning beep no longer sounds immediately for timers shorter than the warning lead time.
Requirements: NVDA 2024.1 or later (tested up to 2026.2).
