v2.1.0
Highlights
Interactive mini sessions, now with handoff support. This release adds slash questions, session handoff, a runtime Continue/Copy toggle, retry, persisted preferences, and configurable read-only tools.
New features
- Slash questions:
/mini <question>and/mini-fresh <question>open the overlay and ask immediately. Bare/miniand/mini-freshstill wait for input. Copied main-session context is used in main mode only. - Session handoff:
/mini-handoff [instructions]asks the model for a Markdown handoff document covering status, decisions, files and commands, verification, open questions, and next steps. The internal prompt is attached as a system instruction, so the overlay shows only your extra instructions, or Generate a handoff. - Continue or copy: Shift+Enter continues in the main thread by queueing the mini transcript, or copies it through the terminal clipboard (OSC 52). Toggle the mode with
alt+ywhile the overlay is open; the button label updates immediately and the choice is remembered. - Copy handoff: handoff mode copies only the latest assistant document, without the prompts or earlier drafts.
- Retry: failed responses show a Retry action that re-sends the last question.
- Persisted preferences: the model, variant, thinking visibility, and continue mode survive restarts. Saved models and variants that are no longer available fall back to a usable default with a notice.
- Configurable read-only tools: the plugin-managed agent defaults to
read, glob, grep, webfetch, andwebsearch. Settoolsto narrow the list. An explicit empty list, or one that filters down to nothing, disables every tool.
Shortcut changes
alt+cis a fallback for the same Continue, Copy, or Copy handoff action as Shift+Enter. The button hint now showsalt+c. Shift+Enter remains supported.- Thinking visibility now defaults to
alt+tand the Continue/Copy toggle toalt+y. SettoggleThinkingKeybindto"ctrl+t"andcontinueKeybindto"ctrl+y"to keep the previous shortcuts. - Use
alt+cif your terminal cannot distinguish Shift+Enter, for example older Windows Terminal versions over SSH. Empty Enter intentionally does nothing.
Improvements and fixes
- Handoff requests wait for their system instructions to attach; a failure keeps the overlay open so Retry can recover instead of generating an unrelated answer.
- After viewing a handoff, an explicit
/minicommand returns to a regular mini session instead of reusing the handoff conversation. - Oversized copied context is clamped safely below the 256 KiB instruction limit. The system preamble and context delimiters are preserved, the oldest context is dropped first, and the newest messages are kept, including multibyte text.
- Model selection changes update the displayed model, variant, and context counter immediately, including across pending storage writes and external preference updates.
- Removed unused code and updated documentation, including local checkout instructions and troubleshooting.
Compatibility
- Requires OpenCode V2 (
opencode >= 2). This release targets the 2.x plugin line. - OpenCode V1 users should continue using
opencode-mini-session@1. - No configuration changes are required for existing V2 users, other than the new default thinking and continue-mode shortcuts noted above.
Thanks to @LucasInstra for the feature work in #26.

v2.0.1
Fixed
- Support OpenTUI 0.6 by passing
renderer.nativeSceneas the resource owner when creating Markdown and code-highlighting styles. - Prevent the mini-session dialog from failing to open with
SyntaxStyle requires an explicit resource ownerwhen running on OpenTUI 0.6.
Compatibility
- Remains compatible with OpenTUI 0.5. No configuration changes are required.
- This release is for OpenCode V2. OpenCode V1 users should continue using
opencode-mini-session@1.
Thanks to @simonklee for the fix in #29.

v1.1.4
Fixes the destructive v1 update check reported in #28. Update checks no longer delete the installed plugin or its cache, and v2 releases no longer trigger v1 update notices.
Thanks @neur1n for reporting the issue and providing the original fix. Their commit was cherry-picked with its original authorship preserved: 4db7e2d
Follow-up changes keep v1 update checks and publishing on the npm legacy channel, while latest stays on v2.
OpenCode v1 users should use opencode-mini-session@1. Close OpenCode and refresh the existing installation through the plugin manager to receive the fix. Exact pins to older versions must be updated explicitly.
All 79 tests, typecheck, and packaged TUI validation passed locally and in CI.

v1.1.3
Fixed
- Corrected the TUI plugin ID from
local.opencode-mini-sessiontoopencode-mini-session. - Updated troubleshooting guidance for refreshing a cached plugin after an OpenCode update.
Note
If you previously disabled the plugin using local.opencode-mini-session in plugin_enabled, that setting no longer applies. Use opencode-mini-session for future enablement settings.
v1.1.2
Fixed
- Restored TUI loading for the npm-installed plugin on newer OpenCode releases.
- The published package now ships compiled JavaScript instead of raw TypeScript and TSX.
- Added release checks that pack, install, and load the TUI entrypoint with Bun before publishing.
Upgrade
If /mini is missing after updating, close OpenCode, run opencode plugin opencode-mini-session --global --force, then restart OpenCode.
v1.1.1
Compatibility
- Restores compatibility with OpenCode 1.17.18 and later 1.x releases.
- Updates the OpenCode plugin SDK and OpenTUI runtime dependencies to the current compatible versions.
- Declares supported OpenCode versions as
>=1.17.18 <2, so unsupported major releases are rejected instead of failing silently.
Fixes #18.
