NESTERM v0.1.0

Play NES games using ASCII characters in a macOS or Linux terminal.

Install

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/kathoc/nesterm/main/install.sh | sh && export PATH="$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH"

No sudo, Git or npm required. Reuses Node.js 20+ or downloads a checksum-verified private runtime. Supports Intel/Apple Silicon Macs and x86-64/ARM64 glibc Linux.

nesterm "/path/to/game.nes" --size 64x30 --fps 60

Choose 40x25 or 64x30 ASCII output. Includes keyboard input, shape-aware character matching and terminal recording. The terminal version is silent; the browser version supports audio.

Bring your own ROM. No ROMs or commercial game assets are included. See the README for controls, terminal compatibility and uninstall instructions.

The archive bundles the emulator dependency and licenses. SHA256SUMS contains its SHA-256 checksum.
