BIND_DEV_PTS=trueis now a kernel-aware no-op on kernel >= 5.4.
v0.6.0 shipped the deprecation shim as an unconditional
DEVICES+=(/dev/pts). On kernel >= 5.4 bwrap auto-mounts a working
user-namespace devpts, and binding the host/dev/ptson top
shadows it withptmxmode=000— pty allocation silently breaks
(tmuxexits "create session failed";script(1)reports
"Permission denied"). The defaultDEVICES_BLACKLISTmasks this
for fresh installs, but the trap fires on migration paths from
v0.4.x configs that setBIND_DEV_PTS=trueAND override
DEVICES_BLACKLISTwithout copying the upstream defaults. The
shim now splits onuname -r: kernel >= 5.4 logs a "no-op, drop
the line" notice and declines to append; kernel < 5.4 keeps the
historical behaviour.An explicit
DEVICES+=(/dev/pts)on kernel >= 5.4 also now emits
a stderr warning at every spawn explaining the same shadowing
trap. The entry is preserved (we do not override explicit user
intent), but the user is told why their tmux is broken instead of
silently puzzling over "Permission denied". New_kernel_at_least
helper insandbox-lib.shfor downstream use. TestsDEV08/
DEV09/DEV10cover the no-op branch, the helper itself, and
the shadow warning.DEV06updated to mockunamevia a PATH
shim so the legacy < 5.4 branch is exercised on kernel-6 CI
runners. PR #18.
