Democracy Defender Mod Manager (DDMM), release candidate 3 — your mods, your democracy, defended. It's still an
early build, but it's meant to be usable by anyone, not just developers.

The DDMM Promise, in brief: every mod is welcome (DDMM never blocks, blacklists, or ranks mods or mod sites),
no account is ever needed on any site, your files stay in a folder you control, it's Apache-2.0 open source
forever, and update checks only ever run when you click "Check for Updates."

Quick start

  1. Download the right file for you (see the table below).
  2. Run it. DDMM looks for your Helldivers 2 install automatically — no setup needed if Steam is where it
    usually is.
  3. Add mods and click Deploy. Drag in an archive or folder, or click "Add URL" and paste a link.

Works with AyakaMods, Nexus Mods, ModWorkshop, GameBanana, GitHub, any direct link, or files already on your
disk. No site is required, no site is privileged — DDMM doesn't care where your mods come from. Special love to

What's new since 2.0.0-preview3

Since 2.0.0-preview3:

  • Source-neutral by design — mods from any site are first-class, not just Nexus.
  • AyakaMods support, including a browser handoff for its (and Nexus's) login-gated downloads, and update
    checks against AyakaMods' and GitHub's mod pages.
  • Install from a folder or a direct URL, not just a picked archive file.
  • Automatic variant/option detection for archives that ship no manifest.json and wrap their files in a
    folder (or several).
  • V2 manifest deploy actually works now (it previously only displayed).
  • Automatic Helldivers 2 detection via Steam, and a proper installer/portable data location instead of always
    writing next to the executable.
  • Archive extraction hardening against path traversal and symlink entries — every install route validates
    entries before extracting and double-checks the result afterward, regardless of which site an archive came
    from.

Known limitations

  • No Nexus Mods update checks — its API needs a personal key this manager doesn't collect, so Nexus mods
    report "unsupported" rather than a version comparison.
  • Windows builds are unsigned. Windows SmartScreen will likely show a warning the first time you run the
    installer or the app. This is expected for an unsigned community build — click "More info" → "Run anyway"
    to continue. We're not trying to trick you into anything; there's just no code-signing certificate behind this
    yet.
  • This is our first release candidate — expect some rough edges. Please report what you find.
