DDMM 2.0.0-rc.5
Pre-releaseDemocracy Defender Mod Manager (DDMM), release candidate 5 — your mods, your democracy, defended. It's still an
early build, but it's meant to be usable by anyone, not just developers.
The DDMM Promise, in brief: every mod is welcome (DDMM never blocks, blacklists, or ranks mods or mod sites),
no account is ever needed on any site, your files stay in a folder you control, it's Apache-2.0 open source
forever, and update checks only ever run when you click "Check for Updates."
Quick start
- Download the right file for you (see the table below).
- Run it. DDMM looks for your Helldivers 2 install automatically — no setup needed if Steam is where it
usually is. - Add mods and click Deploy. Drag in an archive or folder, or click "Add URL" and paste a link.
Works with AyakaMods, Nexus Mods, ModWorkshop, GameBanana, GitHub, any direct link, or files already on your
disk. No site is required, no site is privileged — DDMM doesn't care where your mods come from. Special love to
the AyakaMods community ❤️ — one of the best homes for Helldivers 2 modding, and DDMM's first-class citizen. Go

What's new in rc.5
One-click install, from every mod site
Click Install with DDMM on a mod page and it's installed. No downloading, finding the file or dragging it
in. It works on AyakaMods ❤️, Nexus Mods, ModWorkshop, GameBanana and GitHub, and you can right-click
Install with DDMM on a download link on any other site. Every site gets the same treatment, as always.
- Your browser downloads, DDMM installs. Sites that need you to be logged in work normally, because your own
browser does the download. DDMM never sees, asks for or stores any account, cookie or API key. - Updates in one click too. When a newer version is out, the button says Update with DDMM and updates
the mod in place, keeping your profile setup. - You stay in control. The first time a site sends DDMM a mod, DDMM asks: Always allow, Just this once
or Deny. You can revoke sites any time in Settings. Just browsing never starts DDMM. Only your click does. - Web pages can't drive DDMM. Only real clicks count; a page can't script the button. Every file still
goes through DDMM's archive safety checks. - Mod authors: you can add an "Install with DDMM" link to your own pages, see
Add an install button.
DDMM always asks before installing from a link. - Optional: auto-capture a site's downloads, or auto-import new archives from your Downloads folder. Both are
off unless you turn them on.
The extension is open source like the rest of DDMM and collects no data. It isn't in the Chrome Web Store or
signed by Mozilla yet, so for now you load it by hand. The setup guide walks you through it.
Also in rc.5
- A new original DDMM logo.
- Fixed: a failed install could leave an empty "ghost" mod behind that blocked retrying the same file.
Known limitations
- The browser extension needs manual loading until it's published to the Chrome Web Store and signed by
Mozilla. On Firefox it currently loads only until the browser restarts. - One-click install is new. It's been tested end to end on Linux with Chromium; Windows and Firefox
testing is what this release candidate is for. Please report anything odd. - No Nexus Mods update checks — its API needs a personal key this manager doesn't collect, so Nexus mods
report "unsupported" rather than a version comparison. - Windows builds are unsigned. Windows SmartScreen will likely show a warning the first time you run the
installer or the app. This is expected for an unsigned community build — click "More info" → "Run anyway"
to continue. We're not trying to trick you into anything; there's just no code-signing certificate behind this
yet. - This is still a release candidate — expect some rough edges. Please report what you find.
