Democracy Defender Mod Manager (DDMM), release candidate 9: your mods, your democracy, defended. It's still an
early build, but it's meant to be usable by anyone, not just developers.

The DDMM Promise, in brief: every mod is welcome (DDMM never blocks, blacklists or ranks mods or mod sites),
no account is ever needed on any site, your files stay in a folder you control, it's Apache-2.0 open source
forever, and update checks never run unless you ask.

Quick start

  1. Download the right file for you (see the table below).
  2. Run it. DDMM looks for your Helldivers 2 install automatically. If Steam is in its usual place, there's
    nothing to set up.
  3. Add mods and click Deploy. Drag in an archive or folder, or click "Add URL" and paste a link.

Works with AyakaMods, Nexus Mods, ModWorkshop, GameBanana, GitHub, any direct link, or files already on your

What's new in 2.0.0-rc.9

Mods that wouldn't install (#33)

Some mods refused to install, or failed with an unhelpful error. That's fixed:

  • DDMM now waits for your browser to actually finish downloading a mod, instead of grabbing the unfinished file.
  • Archives are recognised by what's inside them, not by their extension, so a .rar that's named .zip still
    works.
  • .7z files that use Deflate compression now open.
  • If two mods have the same ID, DDMM now tells you clearly which mod already has it.
  • When an install does fail, DDMM now tells you which step failed, why, and what you can do about it.

One-click links (#32)

Clicking an install link while DDMM wasn't already running now opens DDMM and shows the install prompt, instead
of nothing happening.

Known limitations

  • Windows builds are unsigned. Windows SmartScreen will likely show a warning the first time you run the
    installer or the app. Click "More info" → "Run anyway" to continue.
  • The Linux .rpm and .deb are unsigned, so openSUSE needs zypper install --allow-unsigned-rpm.
  • This is still a release candidate. Expect some rough edges, and please report what you find.
