Vboard 2.11.1
Highlights
- Make short Super taps latch cleanly as a modifier without accidentally invoking a standalone Meta action.
- Send a standalone Win/Super press by holding and releasing the key without a chord.
- Preserve physical Super/Ctrl/Alt/Shift holds for multitouch shortcuts.
- Expand the Plasma widget touch target to its entire allocated area.
- Speed up warm widget toggles with a direct GApplication action, while retaining vboard --toggle as the cold-start fallback.
Verification
- All 77 automated tests pass.
- Fedora RPM and Debian package workflows passed before tagging.
- Release RPM and Debian packages are built and attached automatically below.
Vboard 2.11.0
Highlights
- Add optional Two layouts on each key legends: the active English/secondary symbol stays large and centered while the alternate layout is shown dimmed in the lower-right corner.
- Read Alt and Alt+Shift legends from the active system XKB layout, including Ukrainian Russian-letter alternatives and number-row symbols.
- Add conservative nearest-key recovery for touches that land in small gaps between buttons.
- Make swipe typing optional and prevent an intentional swipe from starting hold-to-repeat.
Packaging
- Add an explicit libxkbcommon runtime dependency for system XKB legend support.
- RPM and Debian packages are built and attached automatically below.
Vboard 2.10.0
Added
- True multitouch keyboard input: hold Ctrl, Alt, Shift, or Super with one finger while pressing another key.
- Hold-to-repeat for ordinary, function, and navigation keys.
- Short modifier taps keep their traditional sticky toggle behavior; held modifiers remain momentary.
Fixed
- Prevent Plasma Keyboard from opening over a visible Vboard or reserving duplicate input-panel geometry.
- Preserve and restore the user's KWin virtual-keyboard mode across hiding, quitting, and screen locking.
- Avoid reopening Plasma Keyboard when Vboard is hidden.
- Match native GTK touch sequences correctly so repeat timers and held modifiers always stop on release.
Fedora RPM and Debian package assets are built and attached automatically by the release workflows.
Vboard 2.9.2
Fixed
- Docking or undocking Vboard no longer hides the keyboard while its window is recreated.
- Plasma Keyboard's language key now cycles directly through enabled languages instead of opening the external language popup.
- Derived Plasma Keyboard layouts refresh automatically when either Plasma's layouts or Vboard's patch format changes.
The Plasma Keyboard integration remains process-local and does not modify system QML files.
Vboard 2.9.1
Vboard 2.9.1 is a Plasma integration and dock usability bugfix release.
Changes:
- fixes direct language cycling in Plasma Keyboard 6.7 by overriding its actual hard-coded Breeze style
- selects the shared KWin virtual keyboard for both the Plasma desktop and lock screen with live notified configuration
- documents SDDM as a separate compositor with its own system-wide selection
- adds an always-visible dock/undock chevron next to the menu button
- switches dock mode immediately by safely recreating only the Vboard window
- forces an opaque surface while docked and preserves the configured opacity for floating mode
- keeps ESC, F1-F12, dock/undock, menu, and close controls visible on layer-shell docks
Packages:
vboard: main applicationvboard-plasma: Plasma widget and secure Plasma Keyboard wrapper.src.rpm: source package for rebuilding, not required for normal installation
Vboard 2.9.0
Highlights
- True Wayland dock mode reserves the bottom work area with gtk-layer-shell.
- Optional KWin text-field auto-show, with Plasma Keyboard taking precedence whenever its secure panel is visible.
- Update-safe VboardBreeze wrapper changes the Plasma language key to direct layout cycling.
- The same native Plasma frontend can serve the user session, lock screen, and SDDM without exposing Vboard's uinput backend to secure screens.
- Packaging and documentation updated for Fedora/Bazzite, Debian/Ubuntu, and AUR.
Fedora users normally install both the vboard and vboard-plasma binary RPMs. The source RPM is only for rebuilding.
