Changelog

All notable changes to VeloWrite are documented here.

This project follows semantic versioning while it is pre-1.0. During 0.x, minor versions may still reshape product scope, but user data compatibility must be called out explicitly.

[0.2.8] - 2026-08-20

Added

  • Added native File > Recent Files access with up to ten recent Markdown documents and a clear action.
  • Added multiple document tabs so drafts can stay open and be switched without replacing each other.
  • Added per-tab writing, split, and preview modes so changing one document does not change the others.
  • Added automated coverage for tab isolation, narrow-window tab layout, recent-file limits, and workspace tooltip placement.

Changed

  • Recent files now show normalized full paths in the native menu, while preserving the original paths internally for opening documents.
  • Removed Windows extended path prefixes such as \\?\ and \\?\UNC\ from user-facing recent-file labels.
  • Improved desktop copy and release wording so current preview behavior is described more directly.
  • Published the Markdown meeting notes template and refreshed the public SEO index and AI-readable site summary.

Fixed

  • Fixed recent-file menu synchronization after opening or saving local documents.
  • Fixed tab switching so content and view state remain isolated between documents.
  • Fixed tooltip placement for the left-edge workspace control so the full message stays inside the window.

[0.2.6] - 2026-08-12

Added

  • Added relative image path handling for Markdown preview so local assets beside a Markdown file render correctly on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
  • Added automated coverage for relative images, Windows paths, rendered image alt text, and Markdown rendering stability.

Changed

  • Limited editor and preview scroll syncing to Split mode and reduced stale scroll handoff between panes.
  • Made history restore previews easier to read with clearer restored and replaced labels plus stronger change markers.

Fixed

  • Fixed Windows drive paths such as C:\Users\...\notes being treated like URL schemes during asset resolution.
  • Fixed custom image rendering so Markdown image alt text is preserved.

[0.2.5] - 2026-08-08

Added

  • Added remembered PDF choices for paper size, margins, page numbers, page position, page style, watermark, and table styling.
  • Added Writing, Reading, PDF, and Tables tabs in Settings so export and reading options are easier to scan.

Changed

  • Improved PDF export so long Markdown documents start with a real cover page and a stable contents page.
  • Updated the download page and release notes for the 0.2.5 preview build.

[0.2.4] - 2026-08-08

Added

  • Added automated PDF checks for Chinese text and Unicode font handling.
  • Added a release policy article that explains how commits, local builds, GitHub Actions artifacts, GitHub Releases, installer assets, download dates, and changelog updates fit together.

Fixed

  • Made PDF export refuse to continue if the bundled Unicode font is missing, so Chinese text does not turn into gibberish.
  • Turned font-loading failures into clear export errors instead of a broken-looking PDF.

[0.2.3] - 2026-08-02

Added

  • Added reading palettes for Focus, Paper, Mist, Night, and high-contrast preferences.
  • Added preview reading font choices for system sans, serif, and monospace reading styles.
  • Added bidirectional split-scroll synchronization so the editor follows preview scrolling and the preview follows editor scrolling.

Changed

  • Made the focused reading palette the default visual treatment for calmer long-form reading.
  • Kept reading palette and font preferences locally between sessions.
  • Constrained wide Markdown tables inside a dedicated horizontal scroll area in preview and split layouts.

Fixed

  • Fixed PDF exports to preserve explicit ordered-list numbering across separate Markdown lists.
  • Replaced broad active-line color fills with a restrained left-side focus indicator to reduce visible scroll traces.
  • Widened the focused desktop writing column and reduced line padding so large displays no longer wrap text prematurely.

[0.2.2] - 2026-08-02

Added

  • Published Markdown Math with KaTeX as the next staged Markdown library article for inline formulas, block equations, symbol tables, and formula review workflow.
  • Prepared desktop last-session restore so the app can reopen the most recent local Markdown file after launch when no system Open With file is pending.
  • Published Markdown to Blog with a practical draft, preview, export, print, and source-of-truth workflow.
  • Added a dedicated VeloWrite PDF layout engine for Markdown exports so PDF output no longer depends on browser print headers or WebView page chrome.
