@kennethyork kennethyork released this 28 Aug 02:13

Android client

This release adds the first Android build of Single RS 2012. The client and the
full world server build into one APK; the server starts in-process, listens on
127.0.0.1, and the client connects to it and renders through the software
renderer. Keyboard input is wired, so the login form can be filled in and
submitted.

  • Android 8.0+ (API 26), x86_64 and arm64
  • Bundles the full 2012 game cache (~860 MB APK, ~1.7 GB installed)
  • Touch controls: tap to click, pinch to zoom, two-finger drag to rotate
  • Verified end to end on an Android emulator (all 10 boot checkpoints)

The APK is unsigned and must be sideloaded. The autonomous world bots remain
desktop-only.

Desktop

No gameplay changes since v0.15.1; this release is rebuilt against the current
source.

Each download is self-contained with the game cache, client, server, and Java 24
runtime. The archives contain an empty saves/ directory and no personal
character, clan, highscore, or Ollama data. Extract the entire archive before
launching.

Linux was validated with the packaged runtime and launcher smoke test. The
source build is also validated by GitHub Actions on Linux, Windows, and Intel
macOS.

Roof defaults and persistent website highscores

  • Roofs are now removed by default on every automatic graphics preset, including minimum and low settings.
  • Players can still change the roof setting manually and keep their saved preference.
  • Website highscores can now be searched by display name or username.
  • Clicking a result opens the character or bot's combat, total-level, total-XP, and all-25-skill profile.
  • The latest rankings, active search, selected ranking, and open profile now remain visible after refreshing the website.
  • Live highscore updates still reconnect to saves/highscores-export.json when the browser retains file permission.

Each download is self-contained with the game cache, client, server, and Java 24 runtime. The archives contain an empty saves/ directory and no personal character, clan, highscore, or Ollama data. Extract the entire archive before launching.

Linux was validated with the packaged runtime and launcher smoke test. The source build is also validated by GitHub Actions on Linux, Windows, and Intel macOS.

Immediate automatic website highscores

  • Logging into a character now immediately creates saves/highscores-export.json.
  • The normal 30-second save continues refreshing character and bot stats automatically.
  • After one browser-required file approval, the website remembers the export and checks for updates every 10 seconds.
  • No ::exporthighscores command or repeated file selection is needed during normal use.
  • The all-25-skill live stat viewer, distinct bot builds, and legacy stat migration from v0.14.0 remain included.

Each download is self-contained with the game cache, client, server, and Java 24 runtime. Extract the entire archive before launching.

Validated by the local launcher smoke test and GitHub Actions on Linux, Windows, and macOS.

@kennethyork kennethyork released this 14 Aug 17:57

Real bot stats and automatic website highscores

  • Inspecting a simulated player now shows all 25 live XP-backed skill levels.
  • Bots have distinct melee, ranged, or magic stat builds instead of identical combat stats.
  • The displayed levels are the same real stats used for combat and skilling.
  • Existing saves migrate the old identical baselines while preserving genuinely earned XP.
  • The game automatically refreshes saves/highscores-export.json during every 30-second save.
  • The website can remember the file after one browser approval and reload current highscores every 10 seconds.
  • A manual file picker remains available in browsers without persistent file-access support.

Each download is self-contained with the game cache, client, server, and Java 24 runtime. Extract the entire archive before launching.

Validated by the local launcher smoke test and GitHub Actions on Linux, Windows, and macOS.

Bot pathfinding and stuck recovery

  • Bot spawn positions and roaming targets are now checked against map collision.
  • Group and solo movement now uses the real pathfinder to navigate around fences, walls, and scenery.
  • Idle bots recover to a nearby clear tile after three separately timed route failures.
  • Active routes to trees, rocks, and fishing spots are no longer interrupted by roaming logic.
  • Existing characters, bot progress, clans, Ollama settings, and conversation memory remain compatible.

Each download is self-contained with the game cache, client, server, and Java 24 runtime. Extract the entire archive before launching.

Validated by the local launcher smoke test and GitHub Actions on Linux, Windows, and macOS.

@kennethyork kennethyork released this 14 Aug 02:57

What's new

  • Replaced fake standing/emote activity loops with real resource-backed tasks.
  • Bots now find and route to actual trees, rocks, and fishing spots, then invoke the same woodcutting, mining, and fishing actions used by human players.
  • Real tools, bait, skill requirements, inventory space, XP, depletion, and resource respawns apply.
  • Bots travel or continue searching when no valid resource is nearby instead of pretending to train.
  • Wilderness bots remain on movement and combat patrols instead of selecting skilling tasks.
  • Player-created groups now accept Fishing, Woodcutting, or Mining as real resource routines.

Local website highscores

  • Added ::exporthighscores, which writes the current character and persistent bot rankings to saves/highscores-export.json.
  • Added a Local Highscores section to the website with overall and all 25 per-skill rankings.
  • Select the exported JSON file on the website to view it. The browser reads it locally and never uploads it.

@kennethyork kennethyork released this 14 Aug 02:25

What's new

  • Added independent bot routines alongside regional activity groups. Roughly one bot in five per region now wanders and trains its own preferred skill.
  • Solo bots perform visible activity animations, gain real skill XP, save their progress, and resume their individual routines after leaving a player-owned group.
  • Group bots now move around small staggered circuits during every activity phase instead of remaining on fixed formation tiles.
  • Bot combat profiles now match the visible Wilderness combat level and show the Summoning adjustment clearly.
  • Combat level-ups immediately refresh the bot's visible player level.
  • Updated the README and website for the new activity behavior and downloads.

@kennethyork kennethyork released this 14 Aug 01:51

What's new

  • Bot conversations are now Ollama-only in public chat, private messages, clan chat, spontaneous nearby chat, and bot-to-bot follow-ups.
  • Removed shared scripted fallback conversations. If Ollama or the selected model is unavailable, bots stay silent and the game shows a throttled status message instead.
  • Clan replies rotate between available clan members instead of always using the same bot.
  • Bots retain their individual identities and persistent conversation memories.
  • Updated the README and website instructions for the new behavior.

Ollama setup

Install and start Ollama, then install the recommended model:

ollama pull qwen3.5:4b

Use ::ollamastatus in game to check the connection and selected model. The model can be changed while playing with ::ollamamodel <model>.
