Here is the updated short release note highlighting the dialect sort bug fix:

What's New in v1.5.1

🛠️ Key Fixes

  • Fix Column Sort by Dialect: Fixed a critical bug where sorting columns in the query results grid failed on columns with uppercase letters, spaces, special characters, or reserved keywords. Column names are now correctly quoted according to the database dialect (double quotes for PostgreSQL/SQLite/D1, backticks for MySQL).
  • Elasticsearch Connection: Fixed host/port resolution when connection strings are entered as a URL without an explicit port.
  • Context Menus Polish: Prevented duplicate context menus on document rows and removed redundant rename options on table tabs.

🟢 Database & Sidebar

  • Connection Status Indicator: Real-time status ball (connected, warning, error) on database section icons in the sidebar—matching the SSH indicator.
  • Session Context Menu: Right-click database sessions to quickly open a new query, refresh schema, edit connection, or disconnect.
  • Table Edit Action: Direct "Edit table" button added to table browse tabs.

📓 Notebook & Dashboard Management

  • Action Menus Everywhere: Easily create, rename, and delete notebooks, dashboards, and folders directly from the sidebar tree, Explorer, and Launcher (Alt+A).

🔄 Auto-Update UX

  • On-Demand Downloads: Updates no longer auto-download silently.
  • Status Bar Badge: Interactive Update vX.Y.Z · Click to download badge with real-time download percentage and 1-click restart.

v1.5.0 — Navigator layout & concurrent connections, SSH workspace, Elasticsearch & D1 dialects, Electron 44

⚠️ Action required on first launch

This build moves credential storage from the OS keychain (keytar) to Electron's
built-in safeStorage. Secrets stored by the previous version do not carry
over.
The first time you open this version:

  • Re-enter your master encryption passphrase. The "Enter Secret Key" screen
appears automatically because your synced connections need to be decrypted
locally. It's the same passphrase you chose before — your connection passwords
are recovered as soon as you enter it. Nothing is lost.
  • Sign in again if you use Darang Cloud sync.

No data is deleted and no re-configuration of connections is needed.

Highlights

  • Navigator layout & sidebar tabs: Migrated from the classic top horizontal tab bar to vertical tabs organized directly in the sidebar under each connection. Frees up vertical workspace and keeps open editors logically grouped by server and database.
  • Concurrent multi-connection workspace: Connect to and query multiple databases and SSH hosts simultaneously in parallel. No need to disconnect one to open another — all active connections remain live concurrently, each preserving its own tabs, draft queries, and Monaco view state.
  • SSH client and host workspace: Open SSH hosts directly with integrated terminal sessions (xterm.js), remote SFTP file explorer, real-time CPU/memory host resource monitoring, jump host chaining, local/remote port forwarding, and seamless SSH tunnels for database connections.
  • Elasticsearch dialect: Connect to Elasticsearch clusters with dual SQL-mode (_sql) and DSL-mode (_search), ES|QL querying, Kibana DevTools-style console multi-request execution, cluster node/index stats, alias and data stream discovery, and optimistic-concurrency inline document editing.
  • Cloudflare D1 dialect: Connect directly to serverless Cloudflare D1 databases over Cloudflare's REST API using your Account ID, Database ID, and API Token (safely encrypted at rest). Includes full schema introspection (tables, views, triggers), SQL statement splitting, result-grid inline editing, and client-side transaction buffering flushed as atomic script batches.
  • Launcher apps & quick search: Revamped launcher (Alt+L) with dedicated apps for Schema management, entity Explorer, and Settings, alongside quick command search and fast database switching.
  • Dialect capability registries: Standardized capabilities across all dialects (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite, Cloudflare D1, and Elasticsearch) covering schema, table editor, view editor, trigger editor, syntax, and export.
  • Database feature passes: PostgreSQL custom composite types, domains, exclusion constraints, partitioned tables, ranges, sequences, and materialized views; MySQL stored routines and events; SQLite STRICT / WITHOUT ROWID and trigger parsing.
  • Security hardening:
    • Master key derivation upgraded from unsalted SHA-256 to salted scrypt (CWE-916).
    • MySQL TLS server certificate verification enforced (CWE-295).
    • Formula injection (CSV/Excel) neutralized in export pipelines (CWE-1236).
    • SQL injection prevented in PostgreSQL DDL builders (CWE-89).
    • Safe destructive-action confirmation gates on production connections.
  • Electron 44 runtime & packaging: Chromium 152 and Node 24 with OS-level sandbox isolation (sandbox: true), zero npm audit vulnerabilities, exceljs replacing SheetJS, and newly added Linux RPM packaging alongside .deb and AppImage.

It is always exciting (and a little nerve-wracking) to roll out a major database integration, especially in beta! Because it is a beta release, your note needs to balance excitement for the new feature with caution (reminding users that it's an experimental preview).

Here is a ready-to-use release note template. You can easily tweak the brackets to match your exact tool's name or styling.

🚀 Release Notes: PostgreSQL Integration (Beta)

We are thrilled to introduce one of our most requested features: Native PostgreSQL Integration — now available in Beta!

You can now connect, query, and manage your Postgres databases directly inside Darang. Because this is an initial beta release, we are opening it up early to gather your feedback, squash bugs, and optimize performance before the stable rollout.

🛠 What’s New

  • Native Postgres Connections: Easily connect to any local or hosted PostgreSQL instance (including AWS RDS, Supabase, Neon, etc.) using standard connection strings or step-by-step credentials.
  • IntelliSense & Auto-complete: Speed up your workflow with smart auto-completion for Postgres-specific syntax, schemas, tables, and functions.
  • Visual Schema Browser: Explore your database hierarchy at a glance. Easily view tables, views, triggers, and column data types in the sidebar.

⚠️ What "Beta" Means for You

While we have thoroughly tested this integration, please keep in mind:

  • For Development/Testing: We highly recommend using this beta connection on development or staging databases rather than critical production data.
  • Rough Edges: You may encounter minor UI quirks or unexpected performance dips with massive datasets.
  • Frequent Updates: Expect fast-follow patches over the next few weeks as we react to your feedback.

💬 We Need Your Feedback!

Help us make this rock-solid. If you find a bug, notice a missing feature, or just want to tell us how to improve the UX, please let us know!

Thank you for helping us build a better SQL editor! 🐘
