Release list
PS5 Backport — Early Testing Beta 0.3.2
Small fix-up release (0.3.2-beta). Everything from 0.3.1 is still in here.
What's fixed
- "Not enough free space for the backport engine's working files" showing up even when there's plenty of free space (some testers saw it with 40+ GB free on bigger games). The space check is a lot more accurate now.
Download
Download PS5BackportGUI.exe, check its SHA-256 against SHA256SUMS.txt, and run it on Windows 10/11 x64.
Reporting
Bug reports go in GitHub Issues as before. Please include your exact firmware, console model, the game's PPSA/version and the Export logs ZIP. A klog helps a lot.
Developed and maintained by Deckerr97.
PS5 Backport — Early Testing Beta 0.3.1
New Windows testing build (0.3.1-beta). Everything from 0.3.0 is still in here, including the PS5 Pro PSSR 2 test.
What's fixed
- No audio in STORY OF SEASONS: Grand Bazaar (#10) and WONDERBOY Asha in Monster World (#11). Other games that hit the same problem should get their sound back too.
- Mewgenics crashing on boot on older firmware (#9).
- KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue black screen / crash on 4.xx.
All three were tested on a base PS5 on 4.50. To pick up the fixes, rebuild your backport from the original game files with this version. Old ZIPs won't change on their own.
Download
Download PS5BackportGUI.exe, check its SHA-256 against SHA256SUMS.txt, and run it on Windows 10/11 x64.

0.3.3-test2 (testing build, not a release)
Testing build for specific issue reports. This is not a beta release. It has only been verified offline; console results are what we're collecting.
What's new compared with 0.3.2-beta:
- A build with Target SDK above 4 is now planned for that firmware and later, and leaves out workarounds that are only needed on 4.xx consoles (for example the 4.xx save-data changes behind #5).
- Unity game modules are written with the file-name spelling the game requests (#2).
Download PS5BackportGUI-0.3.3-test2.zip. It contains the program and SHA256SUMS.txt.

PS5 Backport — Early Testing Beta (18 October 2026)
PS5 Backport — Early Testing Beta (18 October 2026)
New Windows testing build (diagnostic build identifier: 0.3.0-beta).
Currently closed source. Application source remains private until further notice, with no promised source-release date. Linux and macOS will follow once I'm happy with Windows test results; no date is confirmed.
New: PS5 Pro PSSR 2 test
Experimental test intended to address issue #6. This has not yet been tested on a PS5 Pro. Tester reports are the first hardware check; this is not a confirmed fix.
- New PS5 Pro PSSR 2 test option builds a Pro-only ZIP named
… Pro PSSR2 test backport files.zipfor games using PSSR. - The PSSR library uses the console's real Pro, app-info and title queries instead of always-negative stubs. This is intended to let the game select its requested PSSR model (for example
13.00A) and permit the system PSSR upgrade. - Tests a change to the bundled AGC library's always-negative Pro detection, intended to let games select their Pro/PSSR path.
- On Pro firmware 9.x–12.x, restores the game's requested PSSR version when the console drops it.
- Refuses a requested model absent from the packaged files. Games without PSSR receive the normal ZIP with a note.
- New row-menu action Make a PS5 Pro PSSR 2 test from a backport accepts an existing backport ZIP or backported game folder without originals. Folder input produces a small ZIP containing only changed files.
- Pro firmware 9.00+ only. Base PS5 consoles do not run PSSR and should keep the normal FW 4xx ZIP.
Test changes for reported problems
- Changes targeting #2, #7 and #8 (MGS4, 007 First Light, Planet of Lana): tests handling for dumps whose
sce_sys/about/right.sprxfails conversion withInvalid param magic 0x79A6EB9Eby replacing that file with the standard copy. The test build reports that other conversion failures may mean that the dump is still encrypted. These build changes do not establish gameplay compatibility. - Tests ignoring invalid SDK/firmware values such as 0.00, 70.00 or 92.00 from repacked
param.jsonfiles and reads the SDK fromeboot.bin, to try to avoid false target-SDK refusals.
These are test changes, not confirmed fixes. Please retry the reported case and share results. Issues remain open pending evidence.
Usability
- Report a problem pre-fills SDK/fakelib options and the game's title, PPSA and version.
- Apply to game folders warns when the PSSR 2 test would write Pro-only files into the folder.
- Tooltips stay on-screen; PSSR help text is shorter.
- Antialiased checkbox ticks and rounded boxes.
- Output fields show the end of long paths and use Windows backslashes.
Validation and limitations
The maintainer reports passing beta (58) and root (941) test suites, with PSSR 2 builds completing end to end through the EXE. These tests were not rerun during this upload. Offline checks are not console validation. Black screens, crashes, missing audio, save problems and firmware/model differences remain possible. Keep original files and backups.
Issues #3, #4, #5 and #9 still require logs or separate per-game investigation; #9 needs a klog showing the unresolved NID. No issues are being closed by this release.
Download and reporting
Download PS5BackportGUI.exe and SHA256SUMS.txt, verify the EXE's SHA-256, then run it on Windows x64. Only these two files are release assets.
All technical bug reports belong in GitHub Issues. Include exact firmware, console model, game/PPSA/version, selected options, reproduction steps and Export logs. For PSSR 2 tests include klog or meaningful console evidence. Redact private data; never upload commercial game files or proprietary binaries.

PS5 Backport — Early Testing Beta 0.3.3 (testing build)
PS5 Backport 0.3.3 — testing build
This is a fixes-only update to 0.3.2, published for community testing. It was verified offline and on a Windows PC (every fix below has a regression test and was checked in this exact EXE). It has not been tested on a console by me this time: please post your results in the issues linked below, with the program's Export logs ZIP and, for crashes, the Console Logs crash ZIP.
Fixed
- Jurassic World Evolution 3 and MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls refused with "No safe automatic candidate" (#23, #24; also the refusal in #22). When a game makes two identical save-mount calls, the final check missed one and refused the whole build. Both build again at every Target SDK. Building works; whether each game then runs on your console is what I'm asking testers to confirm.
- The program closed when a folder was dragged onto it (#25). Checked with one folder, several folders, a folder plus a file, non-English and very long paths, and a drop during a build; 0.3.2 crashes on the same drop.
- A dump that already has a
fakelibfolder from another tool was refused (#27 Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition; the same refusal appeared in other testers' logs). It now builds: the three libraries in that folder are replaced with the program's own, and your copies are kept in the originals backup. Other fakelib files (AMPR, PlayGo) are kept. - Dump files left by other tools (macOS
._files,__MACOSX,.DS_Store,Thumbs.db,desktop.ini) no longer fail the build at the end. A folder insidefakelib/, a fakelib library under 64 bytes, or an older output folder left inside the game folder now stops the build at the start and names the file. - Carried over from the 0.3.3-test2 testing build, now in a numbered build: Target SDK above 4 leaves out the 4.xx-only save fixes that broke saving on newer firmware (#5; the reporter's 10.01 still to be confirmed); Unity module files are written with the exact name the game asks for (#2 launch crash; the black screen when gameplay starts is a separate, unfixed problem); the PS5 Pro options check works on Pro firmware below 11 (#21, confirmed by the reporter on 10.01).
Clearer, not fixed
- PS5 Pro PSSR 2 test (experimental). The option now explains why a test cannot be made (a game version without PSSR, one of this program's own test builds, a backport without a PSML), says in the summary when it was skipped, names the ZIP after the firmware band it loads on, and shows the PSSR model the game will use. In every console test so far the game kept its original model and testers saw no image change (#6). This release changes the messages and names only; it does not change what the test does to the game.
- Output folders too deep for Windows (long paths off) are refused up front with the length and how to shorten them.
Known issues
- Saving on firmware 12.xx+ with a FW 4xx build has not been verified in this cycle. If a game cannot create a new save on a 12.xx/13.xx console, please report it with the klog: that is the result I most need.
- #4 Crisol (9.00): the console reports the autosave written and readable; the empty Load Game list is being investigated with the reporter.
- #17 Dave the Diver: the dump's own AMPR / DLC-emulator libraries crash the game at launch; a built-in check is planned. A working package exists for 4.50.
- #6 PSSR 2 image quality, #18 Hitman 3, #26 Minecraft, R-Type Delta audio, the MGS4 black screen at gameplay (#2) and JWE3 on firmware 4.xx (a separate crash): not fixed.
- Windows Defender may flag the download (#20). The SHA-256 in SHA256SUMS.txt identifies the genuine file.
Update
Download PS5BackportGUI-0.3.3.exe and replace the old EXE. Settings and the applied-backport ledger are kept; the first start unpacks the new engine (revision 6b8700b0-d1cb5ea589) and removes the old one. Rebuild your backports from the original game files to pick up the fixes.

PS5 Backport — Early Testing Beta
PS5 Backport — Early Testing Beta
The first public Windows x64 testing release of PS5 Backport, developed and maintained by Deckerr97.
Currently closed source. The application source remains private until further notice, with no promised source-release date.
Linux and macOS are coming once I'm happy with the Windows test results. No release date is confirmed.
What's included
- Batch processing of extracted game folders, compatibility analysis and verified backport ZIPs.
- Separate untouched-original backup ZIPs and SHA-256 manifests.
- Target SDK selection (SDK 4 default; SDK 5–13 experimental).
- Optional PS5 Pro fix, optional backup-verified apply/restore, Console Logs and Export logs.
Testing status
This is experimental software. A successful offline build is not a console test or a guarantee of compatibility. Black screens, crashes, missing audio, save problems and firmware/model differences remain possible. PS5 Pro compatibility, especially below firmware 12.00, remains under investigation. Keep backups and use only files you own or are authorised to use.
Download
Download PS5BackportGUI.exe, compare its SHA-256 with SHA256SUMS.txt, and run it on Windows 10/11 x64. The release provides only the executable and its checksum file. No separate Python runtime is needed.
Replacement Windows build uploaded on 17 October 2026. The previous executable was withdrawn after being reported broken. The uploaded file matches the checksum supplied with the replacement build; this is not a claim of console compatibility. Its internal build identifier may still appear in diagnostics.
Report problems
All technical bugs must go through GitHub Issues. Attach Export logs and console evidence where possible, with exact firmware, model, game/PPSA/version, selected options and reproduction steps. If klog is unavailable, provide meaningful alternative evidence. Redact private data; never upload commercial game files or proprietary binaries. Routine bug reports should not be sent by private message.
