Two new effects, both written from the papers and both drawing the live picture:

  • Reaction-Diffusion: a growing Gray-Scott pattern whose stripes follow the picture's edges, around an eye or down a stem, like a fingerprint. Lines draws the picture by the width of its stripes, as an engraving does.
  • Pencil: the picture as a pencil drawing, quick lines along its edges that run past the corners, and its tones in pencil strokes: soft graphite shading (Sketch), long lines along the edges (Hatching), or the lines alone. The strokes travel with what moves, and the beats redraw the drawing.

Every other effect is rebuilt for a part they share inside (the paper grain Paint and Pencil now share). They look and behave as before, and their versions are unchanged.

Changes

  • Pencil 0.1.0: the live picture as a pencil drawing, sketchy lines and its tones in pencil strokes (#8)
  • Reaction-Diffusion 0.1.0: the live picture drawn by a pattern whose stripes follow its edges (#7)
  • README names the v0.2.0 release (#6)

v0.2.0

Sorry about the messy networks. Until now, opening an effect dropped you into a tangle: shader DATs piled up in one corner, nodes stacked on top of each other, and wires running backward. That's fixed. Every effect now reads left to right, and each part sits in a box titled with what it does, so you can follow it from input to output. A save-time check keeps every future effect laid out the same way. The README inside each effect now wraps to the width of your text viewer, too.

Only the insides moved. Every effect looks and behaves exactly as before; each one gets a patch version so you can tell which copy you have.

New in this release: Paint, the live picture as a painting, with strokes along its edges.

Changes

  • Every network laid out left to right in titled Network Boxes (#5)
  • Paint 0.1.0: the live picture as a painting, strokes along its edges (#3)
  • Docs: the admin can bypass the main ruleset (#2)
  • Release notes list every commit subject; changes go through pull requests (#1)
  • README names the v0.1.0 release

This is the first release, with eleven drop-in TouchDesigner effects and a Showreel that holds them all.

Each effect is one self-contained .tox with no plugins, no Python packages and no files beside it. Drag it into your network and it runs, showing TouchDesigner's own sample movie until you wire in your picture. Every effect works on the free Non-Commercial license, reacts to music on input 2 (most of all to Fosfora's signal), and has its flashing measured against WCAG 2.3.1. They were saved in TouchDesigner 2025.33230, and older builds may not open them.

Effect Version
ASCII 0.2.0 The picture redrawn in text characters, live.
Bent Cam 0.1.1 A circuit-bent webcam filming its own screen, modeled down to the bytes.
Blob Track 0.1.3 Numbered boxes that follow whatever moves, joined by lines.
Datamosh 0.2.1 One shot smears and melts into the next.
Fluid 0.1.1 A real fluid simulation stirred by the picture's movement, pouring fire, smoke or ink.
Glitch 0.1.1 Broken digital video on the beat.
Particles 0.3.2 Particles peel off a subject and drift away like smoke.
Pixel Sort 0.1.0 Runs of pixels really sorted into streaks, live, at any angle, on any GPU.
Point Cloud 0.1.3 The picture as a cloud of points in 3D, each at its depth.
Slit-Scan 0.1.0 Each part of the picture from its own moment.
VHS + CRT 0.2.1 An old tape on a CRT, modeled the way the signal goes (or an LCD, plasma or e-ink screen).
Showreel 0.1.10 Every effect in one .tox, fading from one to the next with the music.

Each effect's page has a preview, its parameters, what it does with audio and depth, and its measured cost and flashing.

SHA256SUMS lists every file's checksum, and each .tox carries a build provenance attestation, which gh attestation verify <name>.tox --repo kevinraymond/touchdesigner-effects checks.

MIT licensed. Every effect credits what it uses and follows in its README DAT and on its page.
