"You need a passphrase to unlock secret key for" when encrypting and signing

```
keybase encrypt recipient -s -m'my message'
```

always yields a 

> You need a passphrase to unlock the secret key for

This may be a stupid question.  Are me encrypts not getting signed when I do this? What's up?  Is there something weird with my keyring?
