What is new

  • Native modern renderer with real depth buffering, native meshes, semantic sky, zone-aware lighting, material properties, reflections, a native rear-view mirror and dynamic vehicle shadows. Classic remains available with F10.
  • Clean first launch: double-click the game, select a legally obtained CUE, Track 01 BIN or CHD, and the compiled C importer prepares every modern-renderer asset automatically in memory. No Python, external extractor, manual cache or classic fallback is required.
  • Semantic PNG texture replacements and material overrides through mod.toml, plus renderer-neutral frame replay for visual debugging.
  • Analog response shaping, raw SDL wheel input, widescreen HUD controls, optional Japanese car names and prologue content.

Fixes

  • Fixed Steam Deck/Linux Vulkan presentation ordering, bounded frame latency, reduced native texture memory pressure and corrected Vulkan shadow-map coordinates.
  • Preserved an explicitly selected PAL/NTSC frame rate across video initialization and display-mode changes.
  • Stabilized road markings, depth ordering, near clipping, terrain seams and sky wrapping.
  • Reworked the rear-view mirror, car paint, wheel/body presentation, dynamic shadows and attract/replay camera cuts.
  • Fixed FMV pacing and audio completion, the FINISHED voice cue, menu/replay audio handoffs and save paths while retaining legacy bu00 compatibility.
  • Restored original transmission restrictions and added verified Windows x86-64 support.

Downloads and disc images

Release ZIPs are provided for macOS arm64, Linux x86-64 and Windows x86-64. No game data is included. A full mixed-mode CUE or CHD is recommended because it includes CD-audio tracks; selecting Track 01 BIN directly still provides the game, FMVs and all renderer assets but cannot describe the separate soundtrack tracks. The macOS build is Developer ID signed and notarized.

The shipped configuration uses modern 16:9 rendering, 4x internal scale, vsync, linear filtering, FXAA, vibrant grading and 0.5 analog linearity. M-key diagnostic capture is disabled by default.
