Rage Racer PC 0.6.5-alpha
This alpha focuses on smoother rendering, a more responsive frontend, and a first editable car catalog for modders.
Gameplay and presentation
- Fixes the double-step car selection bug when you reverse direction quickly with Left/Right; the same turntable fix applies to the car shop.
- Fixes replay skybox reprojection after hard camera cuts.
- Improves enhanced classic frame interpolation on changing course geometry, reducing road holes while retaining coherent surfaces.
- Adds high-FPS, widescreen and high-resolution support for the classic renderer. Press F10 to switch between modern and enhanced classic rendering.
- Modern rendering now prepares meshes and materials after a logic frame is published, then reuses them for presentation frames. This removes repeated disc/cache work from high-FPS rendering and improves stability.
- Fresh installs use the modern renderer with a 16:9, 4x internal-scale, VSync, linear-filtering, FXAA and vibrant-grading preset.
Editable car catalog
- Every release includes
cars.tomlfor PAL/NTSC-U andcars.ntscj.tomlfor NTSC-J. - The catalog exposes car names, manufacturers, class, unlock class, prices and upgrade prices, handling parameters, transmission availability, automatic acceleration scale and shift points.
manual_only = truepreserves the retail transmission restriction. The automatic shift values kept for those entries are reconstructed port defaults and documented in the file.- The game selects
cars.ntscj.tomlfor NTSC-J discs andcars.tomlfor PAL/NTSC-U discs.
Running the game
Extract the archive, launch the game and select a legally obtained Rage Racer CUE, Track 01 BIN or CHD when prompted. Native assets are imported automatically and the game starts in the modern renderer; no separate extractor or launcher is required.
Known limitations
This is an alpha release. Please report regressions with your platform, disc region and renderer mode.
