Khonsu Moonlight 0.6.0 · seven companions

Choose a tag to compare

@khons-hu khons-hu released this 02 Oct 23:08

Four new local companions join the moon cat, fox and robot: a penguin, Labrador, Sam Altman and Tibo Sottiaux (@thsottiaux). Sam and Tibo are original cartoon fan characters.

All seven support click-and-stroke petting, moon-ball play, naps and wake-up, custom names and colors. Keyboard access, saved motion preferences, OS reduced motion and hidden-view pause remain supported. No network calls or code access.

The listing README includes a new 48-second video and a screenshot of the full lineup. The video was captured from the shipped pet interface in a local preview with motion enabled. The Mac's Reduce motion setting remained on.

Validation: 42 runtime checks, a VS Code 1.140.0 extension-host smoke test, rendered checks for all seven companions, and 180-pixel layout plus reduced-motion checks for the four new companions. The H.264 video decodes without errors at 960 × 680 and 24 fps. Packaged pet files match the tested source.

Install from the Visual Studio Marketplace, or download the attached VSIX. pets-demo.mp4 is attached separately and stays outside the extension download.

Khonsu Moonlight 0.5.1 · pet demo

@khons-hu khons-hu released this 02 Oct 22:41

This release adds a 27-second pet demo to the listing README, with playback controls, a poster and an MP4 download.

The demo shows the moon cat, fox and robot, direct petting, moon-ball play, a nap and wake-up. It was recorded from the shipped pet interface in a local preview with motion enabled. Your OS motion preference stays in charge in VS Code.

This is a documentation update. Pet behavior, the theme and optional setup remain unchanged from 0.5.0.

Validation: the H.264 MP4 decodes without errors at 960 × 680, 24 fps and 27.29 seconds. The 37-file VSIX contains the same runtime as the tested 0.5.0 package. Only package metadata, README and changelog changed. The video stays outside the extension download.

Install from the Visual Studio Marketplace, or download the attached VSIX. The video is attached separately as pets-demo.mp4.

@khons-hu khons-hu released this 02 Oct 22:15

Moonlight companions now respond directly to clicks and strokes.

  • Click the cat, fox or robot, or hold and stroke it for head scratches.
  • Gentle breathing, blinking, tail and antenna movement add idle animation.
  • Toss the moon ball or press Play for a short chase. Rest starts a nap, and clicking wakes the companion.
  • Use the character button with Enter or Space. The local motion toggle remembers your choice, respects OS reduced motion and stops animation while hidden.
  • Keep all interactions local, without network requests or access to your code.

The theme, 22-tool optional installer, Vim and Neovim presets, native colorschemes, backed-up settings, terminal setup and focus timer remain included.

Validation: 38 runtime checks, a VS Code 1.140.0 extension-host smoke test, direct petting and sleep/wake in the installed macOS build, plus keyboard wake, animation, saved motion choice and 180-pixel layout checks in a rendered fixture. Animated states were checked in a local test fixture while the Mac's Reduce motion preference stayed enabled.

Install from the Visual Studio Marketplace or download the attached VSIX and use Extensions: Install from VSIX.

Khonsu Moonlight 0.4.0

@khons-hu khons-hu released this 02 Oct 17:34

Khonsu Moonlight now includes optional Vim and Neovim setups. Run Moonlight: Configure Vim or Neovim after enabling your chosen backend.

  • Choose from 22 tools, with a second choice if select-all includes both modal editors. An enabled conflicting backend is left untouched.
  • Apply backed-up relative line numbers, mode cursors and Moonlight search colors for VSCodeVim, or the Neovim preset with common Ctrl shortcuts.
  • Import separate Vim and Neovim profiles so only one backend handles keys in a window.
  • Use the original native Vim and Neovim colorschemes, including terminal fallbacks, with optional config snippets.

VSCodeVim works without a native executable. VSCode Neovim needs local Neovim 0.10+. Nothing installs or changes settings on activation.

Validation: 30 runtime tests, a real VS Code 1.140.0 extension-host smoke test and 35 native Vim/Neovim assertions passed. Separate profiles were checked for navigation and search in the macOS UI. Real screenshots are in the README.

@khons-hu khons-hu released this 02 Oct 17:01

Khonsu Moonlight now includes optional setup tools alongside the existing midnight theme. Run Moonlight: Setup and Extras to get started.

  • Choose individual extensions or select all 20 curated tools. Existing tools are skipped and failed installations are reported.
  • Apply appearance, formatting and terminal settings separately, with a backup and restore command.
  • Customize an original moon cat, fox or robot with a name and color.
  • Start a local focus timer with pause, resume and stop.
  • Review the optional macOS shell/font setup and import the included wallpaper, Terminal, Codex and VS Code profile assets.

Nothing installs or changes settings automatically on activation. AI integrations require their own account access.

Validation: 22 runtime tests passed, a real VS Code 1.140.0 extension-host smoke test passed, and native macOS UI checks verified selected extension installation, settings application, pet customization/play and all focus controls. Real screenshots are included in the README.

The Moonlight setup now includes a lunar two-line Starship prompt, Git status, detected runtimes, command timing, zsh completions, muted autosuggestions and syntax colours. VS Code terminal settings use JetBrains Mono Nerd Font with extra line spacing.

The release contains the theme VSIX, optional editor profile, formatter settings, shell setup and manual Codex and macOS Terminal presets. Merge the optional files after reviewing them and backing up your existing configuration. Setup instructions and refreshed screenshots are in the README.

Verified in VS Code 1.140.0 on macOS Apple silicon. Shell syntax, TOML and plist checks passed. The Codex and native macOS Terminal presets have not been visually tested in their apps.

@khons-hu khons-hu released this 02 Oct 09:41

My Moonlight setup for VS Code: midnight navy, pale text and ice-blue accents, with syntax, diff and terminal colors.

The theme contains no runtime code or wallpaper injection. Optional settings add a compact editor layout, Prettier for web files and Ruff for Python. Project formatting rules take precedence.

Install khonsu-moonlight-0.1.0.vsix with Extensions: Install from VSIX, then choose Khonsu Moonlight. Import khonsu-moonlight.code-profile for the optional settings and language extensions. Install the VSIX in that profile too.

A matching Codex import string is included in codex-theme.txt. It is ready to import, but has not been applied or visually tested in Codex.

Checked in VS Code 1.140.0 on Apple silicon: theme rendering, Prettier format-on-save and the installed Ruff formatter on synthetic samples.
