Scope for Linux 0.3.7 adds local package installation, AppImage management, and npm/Bun global tools, with cleaner previews and more reliable scanning.
- Open a
.debin Scope to preview and install it through APT. Scope validates the package and simulates the transaction before installation. - Install, update, and uninstall Scope/Gear Lever AppImages. Updates require published checksums, and uninstall can optionally move matching app data to Trash.
- Manage verified user-owned npm and Bun global tools alongside uv, pipx, and Cargo tools.
- Preview local installs with an app icon/name, file size, version, developer site, description, and a clear Install button. Important replacement and dependency changes remain visible.
- See installed apps before update checks finish. Failed checks retain installed rows and report unavailable status; Snap previews show the candidate version.
- Recover from interrupted operations, rescan after package-manager failures, and prevent package operations from overlapping Scope's self-update.
- Improve tool footprint measurements and stop lingering child processes when commands time out.
- Read bundled AppImage versions with the older squashfs-tools shipped by Ubuntu 24.04.
Download scope_0.3.7_amd64.deb for Ubuntu or Scope-0.3.7-x86_64.AppImage for a portable x86-64 build. The release includes SHA256SUMS and its Minisign signature.
