TreeX 1.1.0: update TreeX from the app.

New

  • Updates in the bottom-right corner of the home screen, and Check for updates in the ⌘K palette. TreeX asks GitHub for the latest release only when you click: it never checks by itself, and uses the network for nothing else.
  • When a newer version exists, TreeX shows what's new and Update and restart downloads it, checks that it is authentic (the release's checksum list carries a digital signature only the TreeX publisher can make) and intact, replaces the app and reopens it. If a check fails, nothing is installed.
  • Works for the macOS app, the Windows folder, the Linux AppImage and the install.sh archive. Flatpak can't update apps by itself: TreeX opens this page instead.
  • macOS: after an update, turn TreeX back on under Privacy & Security → Full Disk Access (the builds aren't signed with an Apple certificate yet).

Coming from 1.0.x? Those versions don't have the update button yet: install 1.1.0 by hand this once. From now on, TreeX updates itself.

Downloads

System File
macOS 13+ (Apple Silicon and Intel) TreeX-1.1.0-macos-universal.dmg app with the treex CLI inside; CLI only: treex-1.1.0-macos-universal.tar.gz
Windows 10/11 x64 TreeX-1.1.0-windows-x64.zip TreeX.exe + bin\treex.exe
Linux (glibc 2.28+) TreeX-1.1.0-x86_64.AppImage one file; --cli for the command-line tool
Linux with Flatpak TreeX-1.1.0-x86_64.flatpak flatpak install --user …, then flatpak run dev.treex.TreeX
Linux, archive treex-1.1.0-linux-x86_64.tar.gz ./install.sh (no root)

Homebrew: download treex.rb, then brew install --cask ./treex.rb.

Checksums: SHA256SUMS, SHA256SUMS-windows, SHA256SUMS-linux, each with its .sig signature (used by the in-app updater). Builds are not signed with a certificate yet: the first launch asks for a confirmation (macOS: right-click → Open; Windows: SmartScreen → More info → Run anyway). After updating on macOS, re-add TreeX under Privacy & Security → Full Disk Access.

Support TreeX

TreeX is free. If it saved you some gigabytes, you can support its development on GitHub Sponsors: sponsorships pay for code-signing certificates, app-store packages and test machines. You'll also find the ♥ Support TreeX button in the bottom-right corner of the app's home screen.
