spectraNET 1.1.0 — reliability you can check

  • Reconciliation with the network interfaces: every second snetd compares the adapters' own byte counters (loopback, tunnels, bond members and virtual interfaces left out) with what the applications' connections account for, headers included. The share attributed over the last minute is in snet status (coverage:), snet list, snet top, the app (Live badge, Options → snetd service) and Prometheus. Whatever no program accounts for becomes visible instead of silent.
  • snet-qa (open source): known transfers against another computer, compared byte for byte with what the capture measured — large download and upload, parallel and 200 short-lived connections, a long quiet connection, UDP — plus soak for CPU and memory over hours. Byte-exact on macOS, Linux and Windows (at worst +0.05%); results in the README (Accuracy).
  • Fuzzing of the network parsers (DNS, TLS, QUIC, link-layer frames) with 80,000 malformed inputs on every test run.
  • Endurance check for this release: snetd on Linux, 1.96% of one CPU core on average (peak 2.8%), 22–32 MiB of memory with no growth.

From 0.6.0 or later this update installs itself together with the service. Checksums in SHA256SUMS.txt.
