ClearUI C10e — Animated Receive Names

Choose a tag to compare

@killcity killcity released this 13 Sep 00:03

ClearUI C10e — animated receive names

Four optional effects make the receiving memory name easier to spot, on a plain
background. Liquid lettering now runs a faster 1.6-second loop.

The vertical Spine signal meter is the default for fresh/reset settings and
is shown in the previews below. Existing saved meter choices are preserved;
choose Display → Meter style → Spine to switch an existing configuration.

Choose an effect

Display → RX frame → Name sweep / Marquee chase / Zipper sweep / Liquid lettering

Off, Light shade (50%) and Inverted remain available. These are alternative
highlight styles, not stacked effects. The receiving VFO is highlighted even
when the other VFO is selected. Fonts, pane sizes, meters and pill positions
are unchanged. Animations apply to visible memory names, not frequency-only
displays, and stop outside established receive/monitor audio.

Name sweep

A moving emphasis across the lettering. Four-second loop.

Name sweep

Marquee chase

Moving dashes around the name, avoiding existing text. Four-second loop.

Marquee chase

Zipper sweep

Two bands converge and separate across the lettering. Four-second loop.

Zipper sweep

Liquid lettering

A faster one-pixel ripple through the letters. Forty-millisecond phase updates,
with a complete cycle every 1.6 seconds.

Liquid lettering

These GIFs use actual firmware framebuffer snapshots enlarged 4×, with illustrative
channels and signal values. They are not radio recordings; LCD response and radio
workload can affect the appearance and timing. Reproduce them with
python3 tools/render_clearui_animations.py images/rx-animations (Pillow required).

Updating and compatibility

Download clearui-c10e.zip for firmware, exact committed source, the C10 CHIRP
driver, migration utility, animated previews, instructions, licenses and checksums.
The standalone firmware is ClearUI-C10e-UV-K1.bin.

Use the existing clearui-multiboot-c10.py driver. No driver update, reset or
memory conversion is required. The effect selection persists in the active
configuration bank; fresh settings default Off. Keep ClearUI and Fusion in
separate configuration banks. Calibration and the startup logo remain shared.

Back up settings and calibration before updating the ClearUI user slot through
UV Studio's multiboot workflow. Keep Main intact and do not interrupt writes.
See MULTIBOOT.md and SAFETY.md. C10d remains available for rollback.

Scanning behavior is unchanged: independent non-scanning-VFO browsing, optional
Watch other VFO, and PTT pause/resume are retained. Watch defaults Off each boot;
enabling it slows scanning. This is one receiver, not simultaneous dual reception
or two independent scanners. See RELEASE-C10c.md for scanning details.

Validation and provenance

All 14 host suites passed, including animation bounds and pixel isolation over
both receiving/selected sides, single/dual layouts, display modes and meter styles,
plus persistence and animation timing. ClearUI and Fusion builds passed;
multiboot RAM-stub isolation passed (924 bytes, 85 branches).
Hardware/RF performance of the new animations has not been comprehensively tested.

Built with Arm GNU 13.3.Rel1 using
cmake --preset ClearUI -DEDITION_STRING=C10e. This preserves the tested binary
with embedded base commit 55e3157b plus the animation changes included in the
exact committed source archive. Startup edition: C10e; programming identity:
ClearUI C10. Firmware size: 116,776 bytes. SHA-256:

ClearUI C10d — 50% Receive Shading

Choose a tag to compare

@killcity killcity released this 12 Sep 23:18

ClearUI C10d — 50% receive shading

Regular UV-K1 release based on Fusion 6.0.0. Replaces C10c's dotted RX outline
with the approved darker background shade. All other C10c features are retained.

Receive highlighting

Display → RX frame → Off / Light shade / Inverted

  • Light shade uses a steady 50% checkerboard to simulate gray on the monochrome
display. Text remains black, with one pixel of clear space around existing text
and meters. The effective density is lower near content.
  • Only the VFO receiving audio is shaded, regardless of which VFO is selected.
Rounded corners, fonts, meter positions, pills and the existing layout are retained.
  • No blinking, moving pattern, new separator, or added RX badge.
  • Off and Inverted are unchanged. Dotted is removed; existing Dotted selections
automatically become Light shade. Fresh/reset configurations still default Off.
  • The setting persists in the active configuration bank. It applies during
established receive/monitor audio, including scan reception, not idle,
    unqualified incoming signals or transmission.

Scanning and programming

C10c's independent non-scanning-VFO channel browsing, optional Watch other VFO,
and PTT scan pause/resume are unchanged. Watch defaults Off each power-on; enabling
it adds fixed-VFO checks and slows scanning. The radio has one receiver, not two
simultaneous receivers or two independent scanners. See RELEASE-C10c.md for details.

Use the same clearui-multiboot-c10.py CHIRP driver. No reset, memory conversion
or driver update is required. Keep ClearUI's configuration bank separate from
Fusion; calibration and startup logo remain shared.

Download clearui-c10d.zip for firmware, exact committed source, driver, migration
utility, instructions, licenses and checksums. The standalone binary is
ClearUI-C10d-UV-K1.bin. Back up settings and calibration before updating your
ClearUI user slot through UV Studio's multiboot workflow. Keep Main intact and
never interrupt a slot write or restore. See MULTIBOOT.md and SAFETY.md.

Validation and provenance

All 14 host suites passed, including exact pixel-mask checks for the full shading
pattern, clear text margins and receiving-pane isolation across both VFO
selections, receiving sides, meter styles, single/dual display, scanning and
receive/monitor/idle/incoming/transmit states. The ClearUI build and multiboot
RAM-stub isolation check passed. The user approved the appearance; comprehensive
hardware/RF validation has not been performed. Host checks are not a safety
certification.

This release preserves the tested C10-sh5 binary, built with Arm GNU 13.3.Rel1
using cmake --preset ClearUI -DEDITION_STRING=C10-sh5. Embedded base commit:
266a3f50, plus the shade changes included in this release's committed source.
Startup edition remains C10-sh5; programming identity remains ClearUI C10.
Firmware size: 115,096 bytes. SHA-256:
da2a1dfc8c44733faf5b907baabdd081411abda08cea8eaa6869e5506241a5fc

C10c remains available for rollback. No personal channels or calibration are
included. Flashing does not automatically disable TX on public-safety channels.

Safety and licensing

Experimental firmware; use at your own risk. It may brick hardware, lose data or
calibration, or behave unexpectedly, including during transmission. No warranty
is provided. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, maintainers and
contributors disclaim liability for damage, losses, interference or unlawful use.
You are responsible for required licenses, authorizations and lawful operation.
No disclaimer overrides rights or liabilities that cannot legally be excluded.

ClearUI C10c — Independent Channel Browsing & RX Highlights

Choose a tag to compare

@killcity killcity released this 11 Sep 01:43

ClearUI C10c — Independent channel browsing and RX highlights

Regular release for the UV-K1, based on Fusion 6.0.0. Includes the complete source,
firmware, matching C10 CHIRP driver, migration utility, licenses and checksums.

Channel navigation while scanning

When one VFO scans, selecting the other VFO now lets the arrow keys change its
channel within its own selected group, without stopping or redirecting the scan.
This works with Watch other VFO Off or On. Frequency-mode tuning is supported too;
frequency changes are saved on key release. If the receiver is currently watching
the edited VFO, it retunes to that VFO's new channel. Browsing does not deliberately
interrupt reception on the scanning VFO.

Optional receive highlighting

Display → RX frame → Off / Dotted / Inverted:

  • Off: original display, and the default for fresh/reset configurations.
  • Dotted: a steady rounded outline around the VFO receiving audio. Dots avoid
existing edge-aligned text and meters, so the outline may have gaps near content.
  • Inverted: reverses the receiving pane with rounded corners. The other VFO and
    top status bar remain unchanged.

The highlight follows reception, not selection. Works during established receive
or monitor audio, including scan reception. Idle, unqualified incoming signals and
transmit do not activate it. No fonts, meter positions, pills or layout were moved;
no new separator, RX badge or flashing animation was added. Existing test-build
RX frame On settings become Dotted. The choice persists in the active config bank.

Scan capabilities retained

  • A/B selection does not stop the original scan.
  • Watch other VFO is optional, session-only and defaults to Off at power-on.
On adds a 200 ms fixed-VFO listening window between scan advances and can
substantially reduce scan speed. Off retains normal scanning without those checks.
  • Qualifying fixed-VFO audio holds reception until it ends; scan-side hits use the
scan-resume policy. One receiver interleaves reception; this is not simultaneous
dual reception or two independent scans, and short transmissions may be missed.
  • PTT on the non-scanning VFO pauses the scan and resumes it after unkey and normal
TX/tail shutdown. PTT on the scanning VFO still cancels scanning. Existing TX
protections remain in place. Holding A/B changes single/dual mode and stops scan.

Installation and programming

Download clearui-c10c.zip for the full bundle, or ClearUI-C10c-UV-K1.bin alone.
Back up settings and calibration first. Use UV Studio's multiboot slot-writing
workflow to update your ClearUI user slot while retaining Main. Keep ClearUI's
configuration bank separate from Fusion. See MULTIBOOT.md for details; never
interrupt a slot write or restore.

The same clearui-multiboot-c10.py CHIRP driver works. No configuration reset is
required. It preserves the reserved fields used for the new display setting.
Calibration and startup logo remain shared. No personal channels or calibration
are bundled; flashing does not automatically disable TX on public-safety channels.

Validation and build provenance

All 14 host test suites pass. Added coverage exercises non-scanning-VFO memory
and frequency edits, watch On/Off, setting migration and persistence, and exact
pixel changes across both VFO selections, receiving sides, meter styles,
single/dual display, scanning and receive/monitor/idle/incoming/transmit states.
ClearUI and reference Fusion builds pass, including multiboot RAM-stub isolation.
These changes have not yet been hardware-tested. Host tests are not RF or
hardware-safety certification.

This release preserves the exact tested C10-rxi binary, built with Arm GNU
13.3.Rel1 and cmake --preset ClearUI -DEDITION_STRING=C10-rxi. The embedded base
commit is 674a9db4 plus the local changes included in this release's committed
source archive. Startup edition: C10-rxi; programming identity: ClearUI C10.
Firmware: 114,972 bytes. SHA-256:
778261cdf78703822959b50fece65b540ab207483744eb2d6104ed959074f37e

C10b remains available for rollback. The inherited voltage splash may display
upstream branding; this release does not redesign startup screens.

Safety and licensing

Experimental firmware; use at your own risk. It may brick hardware, lose settings
or calibration, or behave unexpectedly, including during transmission. No warranty
is provided. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, maintainers and
contributors disclaim liability for damage, losses, interference or unlawful use.
You are responsible for required licenses, authorizations and lawful operation.
No disclaimer overrides rights or liabilities that cannot legally be excluded.
Read SAFETY.md before installation. A regular release is not a safety certification.

ClearUI C10b — Resume Scanning After PTT

Choose a tag to compare

@killcity killcity released this 11 Sep 00:55

ClearUI C10b — Resume scanning after PTT

Regular release of this experimental UV-K1 project, based on Fusion 6.0.0.
This adds PTT pause/resume to C10a's scan ownership and optional fixed-VFO watch.

New PTT behavior

When one VFO is scanning and the other VFO is selected:

  1. PTT pauses the scan and requests transmission on the selected VFO through the
    existing transmit-safety checks.
  2. Releasing PTT resumes the original scan after normal TX/tail shutdown finishes.
  3. The scan retains its original VFO, direction, group, cursor and saved result.

Receive-only and TX-lock protections remain enforced. If a transmission request
is rejected, the scan can resume after PTT release. Resume waits for physical PTT
release, inactive transmission, no pending TX request and completion of repeater
tail elimination. A configured tail delay means resume may not be instantaneous.

PTT on the scanning VFO still cancels the scan, as before. C10b does not add
scanning during transmission, change transmit permissions or implement two scans.

Scan/watch behavior retained

  • Tapping A/B changes selection without stopping the original VFO's scan.
  • While scanning: Menu → Watch other VFO → Off / On.
  • Off is the power-on default: no extra fixed-channel checks, for normal scan speed.
  • On checks the fixed VFO between scan advances using a 200 ms listening window;
this can substantially slow scanning. The proposed Fast watch mode is not included.
  • A qualifying fixed-channel reception holds speaker audio until it ends, then
scanning resumes. Scan-side hits follow the selected scan-resume policy.
  • Watch is session-only and resets to Off at power-on. PTT resume works with watch
Off or On. Holding A/B changes single/dual mode and stops the scan.
  • The radio has a single receiver: reception is interleaved, not simultaneous,
and short transmissions may be missed.

Install and program

Download clearui-c10b.zip for the firmware, full source, matching driver,
migration utility, instructions, licenses and checksums. A standalone binary is
also attached.

Back up settings and calibration first. With multiboot firmware running normally,
use UV Studio → Multiboot → Write to slot to update your ClearUI user slot
with ClearUI-C10b-UV-K1.bin. Keep Main intact. Hold Menu at power-on to select
and restore ClearUI. Never interrupt power during slot writes or restores.

Use the same C10 CHIRP driver, clearui-multiboot-c10.py. The programming format
and configuration banks are unchanged; existing C10 users do not need a reset.
Keep ClearUI's bank separate from Fusion. Calibration and startup logo remain
shared; see MULTIBOOT.md for installation and legacy ClearUI memory migration.

Validation and limitations

All 14 local host test suites pass, including the actual PTT handler's routing,
scan pause/resume transitions, both VFO owners, both scan directions, memory and
frequency scans, cancellation, and existing receive-only/TX-gating checks.
Both ClearUI and reference Fusion builds pass; the multiboot RAM-restore isolation
check passes. The new PTT-resume behavior has not yet been tested on the radio.
These tests do not establish RF performance or hardware safety.

The startup edition is C10-PTT; the programming identity remains ClearUI C10.
The inherited voltage splash may display F4HWN branding. No startup-screen redesign,
general text-renderer repair or unrelated meter fix is included. C10a remains
available for rollback.

Firmware size: 114,100 bytes. SHA-256:
69d0be03ea5030e25b3a6237b8b9bf39fa4c6bad723512c57e3736263d9dcfc4

This release preserves the local host-tested binary, built with Arm GNU 13.3.Rel1
and cmake --preset ClearUI -DEDITION_STRING=C10-PTT. Its embedded base commit is
72f959a2, plus the PTT-resume changes now committed in the release tag. The bundled
source archive includes those changes. Package metadata marks hardware validation
false because the complete hardware validation cycle has not been performed.

Safety and licensing

Experimental firmware; use at your own risk. It may brick a radio, lose data
or calibration, or behave unexpectedly, including during transmission. No warranty
is provided.

For the PY32-based UV-K1, not older DP32G030 UV-K5/UV-K6 radios. No personal channels
or calibration are included. Flashing does not automatically make public-safety
channels receive-only. Upstream licenses and copyright notices are retained.

ClearUI C10a — Scan Control & Optional VFO Watch

Choose a tag to compare

@killcity killcity released this 11 Sep 00:41

ClearUI C10a — Scan control and optional VFO watch

A regular release of our experimental UV-K1 project, based on Fusion 6.0.0.
This is the same toggle-enabled binary tested by the user; it does not include
the proposed "Fast watch" optimization. C10 remains available for rollback.

Scanning changes

  • Tap A/B without stopping the scan. The VFO that started scanning keeps its
scan while the selected VFO changes. The scan header identifies A or B.
  • Optional fixed-VFO listening: while scanning, tap Menu → Watch other VFO
    → Off / On
. Available for both memory and frequency scanning.
  • Off is the default: no added checks of the other VFO, preserving normal
scan speed. Selecting the other VFO alone does not make the receiver listen there.
  • On: with dual watch enabled, the fixed VFO gets a full tune and a 200 ms
listening window between scan advances. This can substantially slow scanning.
  • A qualifying fixed-channel signal gets speaker audio and holds reception until
it ends, followed by a short delay before the scan resumes. A/B selection does
not interrupt that audio. Fixed-channel hits do not overwrite the scan result.
  • Scan-side hits retain the configured scan-resume policy, including stop mode.
  • Turning watch Off during fixed-channel reception allows that audio to finish.
  • The watch preference is session-only: it resets to Off at power-on.
  • Holding A/B changes single/dual mode and stops the scan. PTT retains its existing
behavior: the first press cancels a running scan rather than transmitting.

This radio has one receiver. It checks the two sides in turn, not simultaneously;
short transmissions can be missed. This is one scanning VFO plus one fixed VFO,
not two concurrent scans. Normal dual watch still applies outside scanning.

Installation and CHIRP

Download clearui-c10a.zip for firmware, driver, migration tool, exact sources,
instructions, licenses and checksums. The .bin is also attached separately.

Back up settings and calibration first. In UV Studio, with compatible multiboot
firmware running normally (not DFU), use Multiboot → Write to slot to install
ClearUI-C10a-UV-K1.bin in your ClearUI user slot. Keep Main intact. Hold Menu at
power-on to select/restore it; never interrupt power during a write or restore.

Use the same C10 CHIRP module, clearui-multiboot-c10.py. No programming-format
change or reset is required for existing C10 users. Keep ClearUI on its own bank.
Fusion's Main channels do not automatically appear in ClearUI's separate bank;
see MULTIBOOT.md for legacy ClearUI channel/group migration. Calibration and the
startup logo remain shared. Do not upload an old standalone image directly.

Test status and known limitations

  • All 14 local host regression suites pass, including scan ownership, A/B focus,
watch Off/On, fixed-channel audio hold, scan resume, tone rejection and stop
isolation. ClearUI and reference Fusion builds pass.
  • The multiboot RAM restore routine passes its build-time isolation check.
  • The user reports this build works well on their UV-K1. RF timing, sensitivity,
tone detection and every combination of settings are not comprehensively tested.
  • The binary retains the short startup edition label C10-scan and C10 protocol
identity. The inherited voltage startup screen may still show F4HWN branding.
No startup-screen redesign or general text-renderer fix is included.
  • Dual-watch meter behavior still warrants testing. Report reproducible display
or reception issues with the chosen bank, scan mode and watch setting.

Firmware SHA-256:
25963b8a71d6c4fea3a6575df77bf4ec15dcbd348f4fba30b5ca2cc25c62ffa5

The binary was built before the release commit with the scan/watch changes in the
working tree, using Arm GNU 13.3.Rel1 and -DEDITION_STRING=C10-scan. Its embedded
base commit is 510b867d; the release tag and bundled source archive include those
changes. This preserves the exact tested binary rather than silently rebuilding it.

Safety and licensing

Experimental firmware; use at your own risk. It may brick your radio, lose
settings/calibration or behave unexpectedly, including during transmission.
No warranty is provided. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law,
maintainers and contributors disclaim liability for damage, losses, interference
or unlawful use. You are responsible for licenses, authorizations and lawful
operation. No disclaimer overrides rights or liabilities that cannot legally be
excluded. Read SAFETY.md. A regular release is not a certification of safety.

For the PY32-based UV-K1, not older DP32G030 UV-K5/UV-K6 radios. No personal
channels or calibration are distributed. Flashing does not automatically make
public-safety channels receive-only. Upstream licenses and notices are retained.

ClearUI C10 — Fusion 6 Multiboot Preview

Choose a tag to compare

@killcity killcity released this 10 Sep 23:12

ClearUI C10 — Fusion 6 multiboot preview

Experimental UV-K1 build based on F4HWN Fusion 6.0.0. This release contains the
same C10-test binary used in the initial on-radio trial, not a newly rebuilt image.
The existing C8c standalone release remains available.

New in this preview

  • Fusion 6 multiboot support: run ClearUI from a user slot alongside compatible
Fusion, FieldOps, Labs or Transfer editions.
  • Configuration-bank selection under System → Configuration bank.
  • Bank-local ClearUI memories, settings and long group names. ClearUI no longer
needs to program Main's configuration when running in a separate user bank.
  • A dedicated C10 CHIRP module based on the official v6.0.0 driver, with firmware
identity checks and updated side-key action mappings.
  • An offline migration tool for legacy ClearUI memories and named groups.
  • Retains the ClearUI VFO layouts, named-group browsing, contextual menus,
waterfall controls and HF listening mode from the local C9b development baseline.

Download and install

Download clearui-c10-multiboot-test.zip for the firmware, C10 CHIRP module,
migration tool, instructions, checksums, licenses and exact source archive.
Individual firmware and driver files are also attached.

  1. Back up your radio image and calibration first. Keep a known-good recovery image.
  2. With a compatible multiboot firmware running normally, open UV Studio's
Multiboot section and refresh the slots.
  3. Load ClearUI-C10-test-UV-K1.bin, choose an unused user slot (1–4), and use
Write to slot. Do not use ordinary flashing if your intent is to preserve
the existing Main firmware and add ClearUI alongside it.
  4. Hold Menu while powering on, select ClearUI and confirm. Never interrupt power
while a firmware is being restored.
  5. Keep ClearUI on its separate configuration bank. Slot 1 normally uses bank 1;
Main normally uses bank 0. Your Fusion channels will not automatically appear
in a fresh ClearUI bank. That does not mean they have been erased.

Main is the automatically maintained backup of the normally flashed firmware,
not necessarily Fusion. Calibration and the startup logo are shared across banks.

CHIRP and memory migration

Use clearui-multiboot-c10.py with this release, not the C8 or standard Fusion
driver. Select Quansheng → UV-K1 & UV-K5 V3 (ClearUI Multiboot C10).
The inherited model label does not establish UV-K5 V3 hardware validation.

Download a fresh image from C10 in its dedicated bank, then run:

python3 migrate_clearui_multiboot.py old-clearui.img fresh-c10.img migrated-c10.img

The tool copies legacy ClearUI memory channels, names, group memberships, group
names, receive-only and persistent-skip flags. It clears temporary skips and
preserves the fresh target's global settings, VFO state, calibration, logo and
metadata. Reconfigure display preferences and side keys separately. It does not
accept an arbitrary stock Fusion image as the legacy source. Review the migrated
image before uploading it while C10 is running in its separate bank.

Test status and known issues

  • ClearUI and reference Fusion builds pass, with all 13 host test suites passing.
  • The RAM-resident multiboot restore routine passes build-time isolation checks.
  • Initial user testing reports that C10 runs from slot 1 and that Fusion's
channels remain visible when returning to Main. This is not a complete hardware
validation or a verified CHIRP write-isolation test.
  • The inherited voltage startup screen still displays F4HWN v6.0.0. Its long
C10 edition label has a known rendering/bounds defect and may appear misplaced.
This has not been fixed in the attached, unchanged test binary.
  • A scope-like display in a VFO pane was reported but has not yet been identified
or reproduced. Dual-watch signal-meter behavior still needs hardware testing.
  • Included package metadata marks hardware validation false, and its instructions
describe the pre-trial state. The limited on-radio observations above are the
latest status; neither constitutes a completed validation cycle.

Source commit: 1d2395baf9e4024fea278a08aa1eadf40aac76a8.
Binary size: 113,088 bytes.
Firmware SHA-256: 22feec0cd72d73694fd55091d048d8da09626e35f6efc93deaf006bc848395c5.

Safety and licensing

Experimental firmware. Use at your own risk. It may brick the radio, lose
configuration or calibration, or behave unexpectedly, including on transmit.
No warranty is provided. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law,
maintainers and contributors disclaim liability for damage, losses, interference
and unlawful use. You are responsible for licenses, authorizations and lawful
operation. This disclaimer does not override rights or liabilities that cannot

No warranty, repair, replacement or compensation is promised. To the fullest
extent permitted by law, maintainers and contributors disclaim liability for
resulting claims, damage, losses, penalties or expenses.
You are responsible for obtaining required licenses/authorizations and complying
with all applicable radio rules before transmitting.
Software capability is not
permission to transmit. Do not rely on this firmware for critical communications.
Read the full disclaimer.
Nothing excludes liability or rights that cannot legally be excluded.

Highlights

  • Redesigned single/dual-VFO layouts, native pixel fonts and selectable name/frequency emphasis.
  • Vertical Spine meter by default on fresh/full-reset settings; existing preferences stay saved.
  • Icon-based main menu, readable choices and contextual quick menus.
  • Named groups tied to scan lists, with group-limited channel browsing.
  • Waterfall with a dedicated quick menu and long-hold function shortcuts.
  • Corrected arrow navigation, configurable battery readouts and the ClearUI startup logo.
  • Per-channel receive-only protection and a matching custom CHIRP module.

Downloads and installation

The release ZIP includes the UV-K1 binary, matching C8 CHIRP driver, complete
source, licenses, manifest and checksums. The binary and driver are also
available separately for convenience.

Back up your configuration and calibration first. Do not flash onto an
older UV-K5/UV-K6 with the DP32G030 MCU.
Use the included ClearUI C8 CHIRP
module, not the default Fusion driver. The programming handshake intentionally
remains ClearUI C5; it identifies the data format, not the UI build.

Updating from C8/C8a/C8b does not require a factory reset. To change an existing
radio to the vertical meter, select Meter style → Spine. Flashing alone
does not automatically change channel powers or make public-safety memories
receive-only; set the per-channel Receive only flag where needed.

The binary is from the successful GitHub build and host tests,
using Arm GNU Toolchain 13.3.Rel1. ClearUI and stock-behavior Fusion both build.
Host tests cover rendering, groups, storage, receive-only guards, menu/key
behavior, defaults, waterfall logic and CHIRP source regeneration.

Hardware validation is incomplete. The reported B-VFO signal-meter behavior
in dual watch still needs investigation. The radio has one RF receiver;
dual watch is not two independent simultaneous receivers. Waterfall acquisition
pauses while listening. Host tests do not establish RF performance.

Main firmware: Apache-2.0. Separate CHIRP module: GPL-2.0-or-later. Component
licenses and attribution are included. No personal radio images or calibration
dumps are included. Use at your own risk; no warranty.
