The babsonnexus Edition: fifteen new sources, most of them from his wishlist.

New sources

Every new source is off by default; turn them on under Sources. "DRM bridge" means the channels play through FastChannels Player.

  • Free Networks: 35 networks that stream free on their own websites, 140+ channels in one source. News (DW, Al Jazeera, TRT, NHK, Arirang, Bloomberg TV and Radio, CBS News, Scripps, Newsmax, NewsNation, Sky News, Global News, KSL, NBC LX, Cheddar, Court TV, AccuWeather, Free Speech TV), faith (EWTN, TBN's 16 TBN+ channels, CBN, NRB, theDove, PosiTV), The CW's free channels, A+E's 24 FAST channels, Sinclair's diginets, Tastemade, Outside TV, Game & Fish TV, BUZZR, HSN and QVC.
    • Each network is fetched separately with its own time limit, so one slow or broken site can't hold up the rest, and a network keeps its last channels through a short listing outage.
    • Individual networks can be switched off on the source card.
    • Guides come from the network where it publishes one, otherwise from Gracenote (built-in or community-mapped IDs), otherwise named hourly placeholders.
  • Zeam: Syncbak's free local news and FAST service (formerly VUit), about 400 channels. Clear HLS.
  • ViX: about 80 free Spanish-language channels. DRM bridge.
  • NFL: NFL Channel free; NFL Network, RedZone and live-game event channels with a TV provider or NFL+ sign-in (code at nfl.com/activate). Clear HLS.
  • CBS (was CBS Sports): CBS Sports HQ, Golazo and the Champions League channel free; your local CBS station, CBS Sports Network and game event channels with a TV provider sign-in. Clear HLS.
  • Paramount+: live sports (UEFA, Serie A, EFL, UFC and more) as event channels, signed in with a code. Clear HLS.
  • TV Everywhere (sign in with your TV provider):
    • Disney TVE: local ABC, Freeform, FX, FXX, FXM, Nat Geo, Nat Geo Wild, Disney Channel, Disney Junior, Disney XD, plus free ABC News Live. DRM bridge.
    • Versant TVE: USA, E!, Syfy, Oxygen East/West, CNBC, MS NOW, Golf Channel. DRM bridge, requires FastChannels Player 5.2.11 or later.
    • CNN TVE: CNN, CNN International, HLN. DRM bridge.
    • Univision TVE: Univision, UniMás, Galavisión, TUDN, plus free N+ Univision 24/7, Zona TUDN and Canal ViX. Clear HLS.
    • C-SPAN TVE: the 24/7 C-SPAN, C-SPAN2 and C-SPAN3 networks. Clear HLS.
    • SundanceTV: needs a Sundance account as well as your provider. DRM bridge.
    • Tennis Channel TVE: Tennis Channel (DRM bridge), plus free Tennis Channel 2 and Pickleball TV.
    • DAZN: DAZN 1, Rally TV, Red Bull TV, Unbeaten and Fubo Sports with a free DAZN account; YES and MSG through a provider that carries them. DRM bridge.
    • NESN TVE (Beta): NESN and NESN+, New England providers only; needs a NESN account as well. DRM bridge.
  • FOX One: The Masked Singer channel.

Other changes

  • Sources page grouped by how you get each source (free, account, subscription, TV provider, custom), with DRM shown per source.
  • Duplicate Finder can switch a channel to another source while keeping its channel number.
  • ESPN events: filter by team within a league; ACC Extra and SEC Plus play through the TV provider, and only playable events are listed.
  • Event channels get guide blocks before and after each event.
  • Guide: movies show their release year (Plex, Amazon); the event filter reads Linear + Events / Events only / Linear only.
  • Amazon: sign in with a texted code when no password is saved.
  • Weekly maintenance removes deleted channels from feed filters.

Fixes

  • Spectrum sign-in away from home: an IDID-4004 reject falls back to the account-portal login; Clear sign-in stops a running sign-in so it can't save tokens back.
  • Cache cleanup (#73): playlist and guide files left behind by deleted feeds or switched-off bridges are removed after each refresh.
  • Custom playlists: retry a 429'd playlist or guide download after Retry-After; the edit dialog opens from the last scrape's snapshot instead of re-downloading, keeps listing groups that dropped out upstream, and refuses a Remove that would leave no groups selected.
  • NBC TVE finds NBC's new guide query on its own when the old one stops working.
  • Univision TVE refreshes an expired Adobe token before authorizing a channel.
  • TV Everywhere: abandoning one network's browser sign-in no longer stops another network's.
  • Zeam: the play proxy no longer steals the player's stream session; guide gaps between newscasts are filled.
  • Logs: one summary line per scrape instead of per-item warnings for Free Networks, DAZN, Adult Swim and Stirr; playlist URLs and manifest URLs are logged by scheme and host only, since their paths can carry per-user keys.

FastChannels Player 5.2.12 (update required)

  • 5.2.11: requests a new license when the DRM key rotates mid-stream. Versant's streams do this, and older players stopped about a second in with "Crypto key not available".
  • 5.2.12: installs on Android 7.1 (SDK 25), for Fire OS 6 sticks.

Update from Bridge → FastChannels Player devices: click Update to 5.2.12 per device, or Update all.

Upgrading

No manual steps: pull the new image/tag. New database columns are added automatically on first boot, and existing feed output is unchanged.

docker compose pull && docker compose up -d

(If you build from source instead: git pull && docker compose up -d --build.)

Then update FastChannels Player to 5.2.12 on each device, as above.
