@kineticman kineticman released this 25 Oct 17:00

A follow-up to 5.7.1: Spectrum stays signed in without a browser, plus Sources page and preview fixes.

Spectrum

  • Session renewal without a browser: when the Spectrum session is about to run out, or Spectrum rejects it, FastChannels now renews it from this device's saved Spectrum sign-in, the same way Spectrum's own web player does. No browser, password or captcha. The browser sign-in is only used if that renewal fails.
  • Renew session button: Sources → Spectrum → Configure has a new Renew session button that does that renewal right away and shows the result.
  • No more retry storms: once Spectrum rejects a saved session, player retries no longer send it to Spectrum again while the re-sign-in runs.
  • Fewer password sign-ins: when the browser sign-in does run and finds an outdated session for the right account, it now lets Spectrum's page sign itself back in (remembered device) instead of clearing all Spectrum cookies and typing the password.
  • Clearer logs: every Spectrum sign-in now logs how it ended and which account signed in (usernames masked), and a warning appears if a new session's expiry can't be read.

Fixes

  • Channel preview (Channels and Guide pages): Open in VLC and Open in New Tab are hidden for bridge-only DRM channels, which play in the browser or through the DRM bridge. External players can't decrypt those streams, and VLC turned them into a flood of 404s (or "Request Line is too large" for CNN).
  • New feeds: the feed window's warm-up requests no longer wait 60s and time out while the new feed's playlist and guide files are first being built.
  • Sources page (#78): the Enabled toggle and Configure button stay on screen when a row has long status text, and clicking a source's row opens its settings. On a phone the rows fit the screen, group headers read "6 of 22 on", and the empty gap under the page buttons is gone.

Upgrading

No manual steps and no database changes. FastChannels Player is unchanged (5.2.12).

docker compose pull && docker compose up -d

(If you build from source instead: git pull && docker compose up -d --build.)
