Highlights

• Vault API: notebooks read and query the vault from Python — vault.notes(), files(), read(), read_bytes(), read_many(), links(), backlinks(), tasks(), frame(), self() — and write back with write(), append(), set_frontmatter(), trash(), guarded by a path validator, an extension allowlist, and a symlink containment check. See the README "Vault access" section.
• Demo vault as documentation: examples/demo-vault is now nine ordered lesson notes (00 Start here … 08 What is refused) where every behavioral claim is produced by a cell that runs.
• Scroll-stable notebooks: the active notebook is sourced from the note's file, so cells scrolled out of the live-preview viewport keep running instead of dropping out with NameErrors.
• Debounced write queue: writes coalesce per path in a 500 ms window, appends accumulate, and unchanged writes are skipped.

Notes

• Manual installs from the old marimo-islands id do not update in place — reinstall under marimo-notes.
• Known issue: island colors can misrender because the published runtime replaces CSS light-dark() with a polyfill. See the README caveats.
