Ability to move chat to left-hand side

Feature Description

I would like the chat to be in the left-hand side. Having the primary side bar and the secondary side bar open at the same time takes too much space for my liking.

Hey @Almenon, Thank you for this suggestion! I completely understand the need for more flexible layout options, especially when working with multiple sidebars open.
Being able to position the chat on the left side (similar to VSCode's primary side bar feature) would indeed help with screen space management and allow users to customize their workspace based on their preferences and workflow.

I've logged this feature request for our product team to consider.

I'm not sure if there's something I'm missing, but isn't the issue supposed to remain open until a final decision is made?

I'm having the same problem here. Having the two sidebars open simultaneously really takes up too much space. And in fact, it doesn't actually look like the secondary sidebar is still behaving as one, as I tried to move other views in there and was unable to do so. And it is still called the secondary sidebar in some places in the app, such as View > Appearance > Secondary Side Bar.

It really would be nice to just let the chat view be an actual view, and the secondary sidebar an actual sidebar, the same way VSCode works originally.

Having extra right sidebar (where it's just a separate chat for itself) kills screen space. Using shortcuts to open it when needed, still appreciate if this can integrated to Primary left bar. May be this is an attempt to be different than VS code though not cool.
