Leaderboard Pages
A leaderboard page is what players see when they open your game's leaderboard on Arcadia. Arcadia has a standard board, but you can design your own: a podium for the top 3, a top 10, a scrolling top 100, the player's own rank, period tabs, your own pictures and colours. You design it on the canvas like a screen, and the arcade fills it with the game's real scores.
A leaderboard page is never part of the game itself. It isn't in Minecraft packs or web exports; it goes to Arcadia with the game when you publish.
- Advanced → Create leaderboard opens a new page with a starter layout: the game's title, period tabs, the top 3 on a podium, the top 10, the player's own rank and the number of players. Change anything, or delete it and start from the pieces.
- Advanced → Open leaderboard… opens one you made before; Back to screen (on the green bar) returns to the game.
- Publish to Arcadia has Create leaderboard… too, next to the leaderboard settings. From there the page opens in the leaderboard creator: the same canvas, Toolbox, Layers and Properties in a window of its own, with only the Edit and View menus, Preview and a Done button. Design the page, then close the window (or press Done): the page goes into your project as one Undo step and is chosen in the publish window. Edit there opens a page the same way.
While a page is open the toolbox shows what a page can hold, and the canvas shows it with sample players. Layers, groups, align and distribute, copy and paste and Undo all work as on a screen.
Page pieces: Label, Image, Panel and Shape, as on a screen. A label can show {title} (the game's title), {label} (the score's name, such as Score or Distance), {players} (how many players are on the board) and {period} (All time, This week or Today).
Leaderboard widgets each read the board themselves:
| Widget | Shows |
|---|---|
| Top 10 panel | The top players, one row each. Choose how many rows (up to 100), their height, a header row, and a colour for every other row. |
| Top 100 (scrolling) | The same, 100 rows, scrolling. |
| Top 3 podium | 1st, 2nd and 3rd on tiered gold, silver and bronze steps. |
| First / Second / Third place | A box for one place. |
| 1st place crown, 2nd and 3rd place medals | A crown, medal, trophy or star in gold, silver or bronze. Choose a picture under Appearance to use your own instead. |
| Range panel | From and to boxes the player can change (up to 100 ranks at a time), and a find a player box that shows them and 5 either side. It scrolls. |
| Top 5 slider | The top players as cards that slide along by themselves (every few seconds; 0 = only when the player scrolls). |
| Your rank | The person looking at the page, highlighted, with players just above and below. Signed out or with no score yet, it shows its When empty text. |
| Period tabs | All time, This week and Today. Clicking one switches every list on the page. |
Every widget's look comes from Appearance: its background colour or picture, border, corners, font, size and colour.
A widget's Text says what each row shows. It can use:
| Write | For |
|---|---|
{rank} {name} {score}
|
The place, the player's name and their score (written as the arcade writes it, such as 1,250 or 1:05.30). |
{runs} {playerNo} {when}
|
How many runs they've had, their player number, and when the score was set. |
{stat.level} |
One of the leaderboard's extra columns, by its key. |
{medal} |
The rank's icon, for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. |
A | splits a row into columns: {medal}{rank}|{name}|{score} puts the rank on the left, the name in the middle and the score on the right. On the podium, rank boxes and slider cards, \n starts a new line: {name}\n{score}.
- Preview (F5, or the button on the green bar) opens the real page with sample players, marked PREVIEW · SAMPLE DATA. On Arcadia the same page shows the game's board, for whoever is looking.
-
Export page… writes
leaderboard.htmland aleaderboardfolder with its pictures and fonts. Only those files are written; nothing else in the folder is touched. - Save as .lb… saves the page as a file of its own, with its pictures, to use in another project.
-
Import leaderboard… (Advanced menu, or the Publish window) takes a
.lbfile or a page. A page exported from Arcadia Studio opens again for editing, pictures and all. A page made anywhere else can't be edited here, but can be used as it is when you publish.
Inside the project a page is saved as leaderboards/<id>.lb. Its pictures are the project's own.
In Publish to Arcadia, Leaderboard page chooses what players see: the arcade's standard board, one of your pages, or an imported page. A project with a page uses its first one unless you choose otherwise. The page needs Keep a leaderboard on (it has nothing to show without it), and Check warns if it's off.
The page reads the board only through Arcadia and loads nothing from other websites. An imported page may load fonts from Google Fonts, Bunny Fonts, Adobe Fonts or Font Awesome's CSS, and files from the arcade itself. Anything else, including script sites such as jsDelivr, unpkg, cdnjs and Font Awesome kits, is refused before publishing: put it in the page instead. It asks for the top 100 once and every widget takes what it needs, so every widget agrees and the page stays quick.
An AI assistant can make and change leaderboard pages too.
