@klahr klahr released this 11 Oct 20:12
2005623

Seventh test build of the unofficial Organic Maps port to Sailfish OS (Silica UI on top of the Organic Maps core).

Built with Sailfish SDK target 5.1.0.11. Tested on a Jolla Phone 2 running Sailfish OS 5.2 (aarch64). The armv7hl build hasn't been tested on a device yet.

What's new since 2026.10.09-7

  • Changing the route points during navigation (for example adding a stop) now leaves navigation and plans the new route, ready to start again, as on Android
  • Ending navigation no longer briefly shows the closing route in the route panel
  • Bookmarks, tracks and settings are now included in Sailfish OS backups (maps are left out)

What's included

  • Offline map rendering, GPS position and follow mode
  • Downloading and updating maps, including the on-map downloader
  • Search, with history and categories
  • Bookmarks and tracks: import, export and backup to ~/Documents/Organic Maps, sorting, filtering and notes
  • Routing with lanes, speed camera alerts and elevation profiles
  • Voice guidance through Speech Note (harbour-dsnote) or a local synthesizer such as espeak-ng
  • Adding and editing places in OpenStreetMap
  • Opening geo:, om:// and ge0:// links and bookmark files

Install

Download the RPM for your device (aarch64 for most current devices, armv7hl for older ones), then install it:

devel-su pkcon install-local organicmaps-2026.10.11-1.<arch>.rpm

Or open the downloaded file in the file manager (this needs "Allow untrusted software" in Settings).

This is a pre-release, so expect rough edges.

Sixth test build of the unofficial Organic Maps port to Sailfish OS (Silica UI on top of the Organic Maps core).

Built with Sailfish SDK target 5.1.0.11. Tested on a Jolla Phone 2 running Sailfish OS 5.2 (aarch64). The armv7hl build hasn't been tested on a device yet.

What's new since 2026.10.09-4 (same app changes as 2026.10.09-5)

  • Voice instructions now play over the music. Media players, including Android apps, are paused while an instruction is spoken and resume shortly afterwards. Android apps no longer lose their audio focus for good.
  • The speed camera beep plays the same way and no longer interrupts music
  • The layers panel no longer dims the map, and a tap outside the panel closes it
  • Route point markers in the route planner keep their colors
  • Based on the latest Organic Maps core again. 2026.10.09-5 was accidentally built on an older one and lost the fix that keeps a bookmark list's details when it is reloaded; this build has it back

Fourth test build of the unofficial Organic Maps port to Sailfish OS (Silica UI on top of the Organic Maps core).

Built with Sailfish SDK target 5.1.0.11. Tested on a Jolla Phone 2 running Sailfish OS 5.2 (aarch64). The armv7hl build hasn't been tested on a device yet.

What's new since 2026.10.08-4

  • Music is paused for voice instructions and resumes after them, instead of stopping
  • Navigation actions moved to a pulley menu pulled up from the bottom panel, with a new "Mute voice" item
  • Landscape navigation layout follows Android: speed limit and lanes in a row below the turn card, map drawn under the camera cutout
  • Exit numbers are shown boxed next to road shields
  • A route that failed because there was no GPS position yet is rebuilt once a position arrives
  • The search button during navigation starts a new search instead of reusing an earlier one
  • Full color category icons are no longer tinted gray
  • Updated to the latest Organic Maps core, which keeps a bookmark list's details when it is reloaded
