Nextcloud Photo Frame v0.4.0

Use personal Nextcloud Photos albums as a screensaver source, alongside existing Files folders or on their own.

• Choose Photo source → Folders, Albums, or Folders and albums. Existing installations keep their folder selection and credentials.
• Enter each personal album's exact name under Nextcloud Photos albums. Switching sources works before the first album is added.
• Combine up to 32 folders and albums and 5000 unique photos. File IDs deduplicate photos across sources when provided. Album contents are read directly without recursive traversal.
• Includes the 0.3.1 fix for originals larger than 8 MiB: use an authenticated, same-server preview while retaining the download cap, idle suspension and redirect protections.

The Nextcloud Photos app must be enabled. This version supports albums owned by the connected account; public links, albums shared by another account and Memories-specific collections are outside its scope. Large-photo previews require Nextcloud image previews and a file ID.

Validation: 152 integration assertions, 12 tooling tests, installer package validation and dependency isolation checks passed. The release includes R8's mapping.txt alongside the plugin ZIP, manifest and checksum.

Nextcloud Photo Frame v0.3.1

Photos larger than 8 MiB can now load through an authenticated Nextcloud preview, while keeping the 8 MiB limit on every downloaded response. The plugin requests an aspect-preserving preview up to 1920 × 1920 using the selected photo's file ID.

• Keeps the existing 0.3.0 folder settings, cache limits and screensaver behavior.
• Preserves idle network suspension, request cancellation, HTTPS validation and redirect rejection.
• Gives distinct errors for oversized folder listings, original photos and previews, and explains when previews are unavailable.

Image previews must be enabled on Nextcloud and the server must provide the photo's file ID. If a preview is unavailable, use a smaller JPEG, PNG or WebP copy.

Validation: 104 integration assertions, 12 tooling tests, installer package validation and dependency isolation checks passed. The release includes R8's mapping.txt alongside the plugin ZIP, manifest and checksum.

Nextcloud Photo Frame v0.3.0

Nextcloud Photo Frame reduces memory and background resource use while preserving the existing plugin ID, settings and screensaver selections.

• Limit original photo downloads to 8 MiB, including responses without Content-Length.
• Recover from OutOfMemoryError in the slideshow worker by clearing the resized-photo cache and backing off for 30 seconds. Memory recovery remains best effort inside the Kiosk Satellite process.
• Load, refresh, rotate, prefetch and retry only while this specific renderer is visible and the screen is on. Pause the timer and cancel in-flight HTTP calls when hidden; defer manual actions until it returns.
• Rename the plugin to Nextcloud Photo Frame to distinguish it from Nextcloud's Photos app. The technical ID stays nextcloud-photos.
• Include the Nextcloud/photo-stack icon.
• Generate the HTTP User-Agent from the effective package version.
• Publish mapping.txt from the same R8 invocation used to build the package, alongside the ZIP, manifest and checksum.

If you enable the plugin while a screensaver is already running, dismiss it and start it once again. The SDK does not replay the current view on subscription, so the plugin waits for the next view event before starting network work.

Validation: 85 integration assertions and 12 Python tooling tests passed locally; every atomic commit's production and test sources compiled independently. The release workflow repeats testing, package validation, User-Agent/version matching and dependency-isolation checks before uploading assets.

Nextcloud Photos v0.2.0

Combine photos from multiple Nextcloud folders in one Kiosk Satellite screensaver.

• Keep the existing Photo folder and add up to 31 Additional photo folders from the same Nextcloud account.
• Include subfolders applies to every selected folder. Existing connection settings are preserved.
• Overlapping paths and Nextcloud file IDs are deduplicated. Repeated folder IDs are skipped to prevent alias loops.
• Traversal is bounded to 100 directories, 20 levels below each selected folder and 5,000 unique photos per refresh, even when file IDs are unavailable.

Install or update using Plugin Manager and the repository URL. The ZIP, manifest and checksum are built, verified and uploaded by GitHub Actions.

Validation: 64 WebDAV/lifecycle integration assertions, 12 Python tool tests, Android package validation and DEX dependency isolation checks passed locally. The release workflow repeats these checks before uploading assets.

Nextcloud Photos v0.1.2

Display a Nextcloud Files folder as a Kiosk Satellite photo screensaver.

• Authenticated WebDAV access using a Nextcloud app password.

Install through Settings → Plugin Manager → Add plugin using this repository URL, then configure the connection and select Nextcloud Photos (Nextcloud Photos) under Screensaver mode. Reload Remote Admin after enabling the plugin if its mode list is stale.

Requires Android 7.0+ and Kiosk Satellite custom screensaver support. Supports Files folders; virtual albums and HEIC are not supported. The offline cache clears when the plugin stops or settings change. See the README for setup, limits and privacy details.
