PanelTide 0.11.0 — Windows preview

PanelTide 0.11 fixes saving in Page studio and makes pages easier to find your way around. Reviews can now know which pages face each other, and you can mark panels on imported pages. It also adds the first native Photoshop step for the optional edit studio.

Fixed

  • Page studio Save comic works again. In 0.10.0 the button did nothing, so studio changes were kept only as recovery copies, or saved by Review in Workspace. Save comic now saves the comic again.

New in this release

  • The same header on every page: a skip link, the name of the page you are on, Review workspace, Your comics, All places and User guide. All places lists every area in two groups that match the Windows menus. Esc or a click elsewhere closes it, and header links keep you on a page that still has unsaved input.
  • One name for each place across pages, menus and settings, for example Page studio and AI connections.
  • Page layout: say how readers meet your pages. The choices are printed pages that face each other, a vertical scroll strip, or one page at a time on screen, with the reading direction and, for print, whether page 1 stands alone. The page list then shows each page's side and where pages turn. Reviews of neighbouring pages receive this, and assume nothing when it is not set.
  • Mark panels on imported pages: in Page studio, draw or type a rectangle for each panel, in reading order. Reviews can then target single panels. Nothing is detected automatically, and the page image is not changed.
  • Edit studio and Photoshop: capture an area on the Photoshop page for an edit study. From that study, Preview a candidate on a temporary copy, Apply it as one new layer without saving, then Verify, Undo or Inspect. This was checked in Photoshop 2026 (27.11) on Windows with a test document.
  • Edit studio journal: discard earlier copies of unsaved inputs that you no longer need. Their bytes stay as history.
  • Readability: text contrast was checked and fixed on every page in the light, dark and both high-contrast appearances.
  • Reliability on Windows: saving retries briefly when another program, such as antivirus or a search indexer, holds a file for a moment. This now covers stores, Photoshop records and the app's own settings.
  • Creator's guide 0.11.0: 51 chapters, including the new header, page layout, panel marking and a troubleshooting entry for work kept by an app installed from the Microsoft Store.

Limits

This is an unsigned Windows x64 preview. Automatic image generation is not configured. Placing a candidate in Photoshop needs a capture taken in the same unchanged document. Page layout has no trim, bleed or binding sizes and is not checked against printed proofs, and large collections do not have it yet. Panels are rectangles you mark yourself: there is no balloon or text detection and no OCR. Live Clip Studio Paint testing and Mac builds are not part of this release. Account and billing services are development previews and are not active. Source and automated tests do not establish independent editorial quality or accessibility compliance.

Checks behind this release

Source changes were checked in continuous integration on Windows and Ubuntu with Node 22, 24 and 26 (root, desktop, React and commerce suites). The packaged Windows executables passed:

  • the security smoke test
  • the occupied-port check
  • the Electron fuse check
  • an installer payload inspection

Their exact hashes are in SHA256SUMS.txt. The creator guide edition was rebuilt and verified. These are engineering checks, not independent creator, accessibility or editorial-quality evaluation.

PanelTide 0.10.0 — Windows preview

PanelTide 0.10 turns the 0.9 single-page review preview into a local editorial workspace for whole comics: large collections, scripts and story bibles, planned reviews with honest coverage, a managing-editor summary, manual work, page exchange with drawing apps, an optional edit studio, direct Photoshop access without a panel, and complete work backups.

New in this release

  • Your comics: Archive, Trash and Restore; Save a copy and Save a complete copy (scripts, groups and rules included) as new, separate comics.
  • Large collections: complete comics or issues of up to 5,000 pages with their original files, exact order and credits, separate from Your comics.
  • Script and story bible: imported scripts keep their exact original bytes; versions, explicit beat-to-page mapping and approved story-bible rules. Collections have their own story workspace.
  • Comic review and Large-work review: plan reviews of chosen pages, scenes, scripts or canon across fifteen editorial disciplines; batches show exactly which pages and disciplines were assessed and which were not.
  • Managing editor: bring up to twelve saved replies together, see repeated observations and differing alternatives, and download a local report.
  • Manual work: tasks, intentional choices, editable tool briefs, comparisons and reports for each recommendation.
  • Edit studio (optional): from one saved artwork recommendation, prepare a crop, brief, binary mask and permitted references, then compare PNG alternatives you make yourself. Nothing is generated, uploaded or applied automatically.
  • Drawing apps: export original PNGs for Photoshop or Clip Studio Paint and bring revised pages back with an explicit Replace, Add or Skip choice for each file.
  • Photoshop without a panel: read open documents, capture a document or crop, and Preview, Apply and Undo a selected-text change directly on Windows. The UXP panel (0.5.0) remains optional.
  • AI connections: besides the signed-in Codex route, optional OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Ollama and OpenAI-compatible routes can be configured; API keys stay in the session unless you choose encrypted Windows storage. These optional routes have not yet been verified against live provider accounts.
  • Recovery: complete work backup and restore with previous work copies; unsaved inputs in Studio, Workspace, intake, scripts, story forms, page returns and the edit studio are kept per window and can be restored explicitly.
  • Navigation: a Tools menu reaches every area; the Creator's guide (51 chapters) opens in its own Help window.

Limits

Unsigned Windows x64 preview. Automatic image generation is not configured, and candidates are placed in Photoshop by hand. Live Clip Studio Paint testing and Mac builds are not part of this release. Account and billing services are development previews and are not active. Source and automated tests do not establish independent editorial quality or accessibility compliance.

Checks behind this release

Source changes were checked on Windows and Ubuntu with Node 22, 24 and 26 in continuous integration (root, desktop, React and commerce suites). The packaged Windows executables passed the security smoke test (sandboxed renderer, no Node in pages, separate Help window, workspace draft recovery, duplicate launch handing over to the running app), the occupied-port check, the Electron fuse check and an installer payload inspection; their exact hashes are in SHA256SUMS.txt. The creator guide edition was rebuilt and verified. These are engineering checks, not independent creator, accessibility or editorial-quality evaluation.

PanelTide 0.9.0 — Windows engineering preview

Create and reopen separate local comics, import ordered PNG pages while retaining their originals, and export/import a self-contained .paneltide file. The review workspace keeps each comic's feedback/history separate, including when two comics reuse page IDs.

New in this release:

  • Named empty New/Open library, ordinary file controls, explicit PNG preview/order/naming and original-file export.
  • Content-addressed original PNGs with strict CRC/chunk/inflate/decoded-size validation. Bounded review derivatives remain separate and explicitly labelled; no print or pixel-equivalence promise.
  • Portable saved context/page/source/credit package with fresh identity on import; operational authority/history excluded.
  • Mandatory compare-and-swap for saved mutations, serialized AI/project boundaries, atomic catalog writes and original legacy-file preservation.
  • Newer edits stay unsaved when older Save finishes. Workspace drafts bind to comic UUID; pending imports protect newer drafts. Foreign history exposes local read-only actions.
  • Missing/corrupt initialized library fails without replacing it with a sample. Malformed/unsupported package and source files reject without replacing current work.
  • Imported physical panel geometry stays unknown; the full-page placeholder is not a detected panel. Positive preservation advice uses neutral category headings.

Validation includes145 automated core/adapter/HTTP/UI cases,12 desktop unit/release-guard cases, actual browser original-PNG export/reimport/restart, a separately exported Photoshop27.11 PNG and a real licensed finished-strip advisory review. The model returned two preservation recommendations, not two defects. A developer checked its general balloon-tail citation against the primary source; that is not independent practitioner validation or a global expertise certificate. Artifact-specific Windows shell/payload/fuse checks and their exact hashes are attached with this release.

The final normal per-user0.8→0.9 update exited0 and preserved all37 existing workspace files before first launch. Installed native New/Open, historical reviews, explicit original-sample connection verification (21.958s journalled job) and normal restart were observed. Work/history files remained unchanged; two AI proof/status files changed intentionally. The owned Windows PNG Open dialog could not be completed through the control helper and was cancelled; complete native intake/export/reimport dialog validation remains open, separately from the passing source-browser journey.

Still an unsigned Windows x64 preview. Automatic compatible CLI installation/authentication, complete backup/recovery/crash-durable drafts, professional/novice evaluation, accessibility acceptance, native CSP/Mac, connected artwork generation, full script/chapter coverage and commercial accounts/licence/billing remain separate roadmap gates. Photoshop plugin remains development0.5.0; historical native text-action evidence is not a new universal host compatibility test.

PanelTide 0.8.0 — Windows preview

This prerelease adds a creator-facing fixed-sample AI connection check for an existing compatible signed-in Codex CLI, with cancellation/restart guidance and a local help page. The English workspace supports focused page/nearby-page recommendations, tasks and saved history.

Windows installer and portable are unsigned x64 builds. Photoshop0.5.0 remains a development ZIP, not a .ccx. Mac, native Clip Studio, automatic Codex installation/sign-in, commercial account/billing and a final professional release are not implemented. Third-party runtime notices and a getting-started guide are included.

Final Windows artifact validation:14 portable,2 collision,3 embedded-payload and6 fuse checks;54 source-matching companion resources. Separate original-sample provider and installed upgrade evidence exist in the private development repository. These checks do not certify broad compatibility or independent editorial accuracy.

Source commit: 67672826943c9571381569ad71c5a75155a98cd7. Source/design/history and personal validation stay in the private repository. Public distribution contains only the declared runtime, development plugin, notices and public documentation. Shipped Electron/plugin JavaScript remains inspectable; private Git is not an obfuscation guarantee.
