Adaptive Sync no longer hides the cursor
With Adaptive Sync turned on in the monitor's OSD, the hardware cursor vanished in HiDPI mode. Toggling the setting could tear down the whole setup. Reported in #7.
Two things went wrong. macOS marks the panel's top rates as variable modes, and the mirror could land on one of them, which glitches the cursor plane. macOS could also fold the mirror into a hardware clone that drops the monitor from the display list, and the app read that as an unplug.
What changed:
- The mirror pin and the refresh rate picker skip variable modes, so the virtual display and the panel always agree on a fixed rate.
- When the hardware clone forms, the app re-applies the fixed native mode once the transition settles.
- A monitor that is offline but still mirrored no longer counts as a disconnect.
- These paths only run on panels that advertised Adaptive Sync at mirror time. Every other panel keeps the disconnect handling from 1.2.6.
You can now leave Adaptive Sync on in the OSD, which helps if you share the monitor with a Windows machine. The panel still runs at a fixed rate while HiDPI is active.
Thanks to @sshearn for the fix in #12.
CLI presets
The command line tool, built from the repo with make, now lists every preset the app has, grouped by monitor family. The old names such as g9-5120x1440 still work, and the 3840x1080 LoDPI preset is back as g9-57-3840x1080-lodpi. Thanks to @yagop for #8.
Brightness on the 57"
The README now says that DDC brightness control does not work on the 57" G9, and why. See #14.
Update via the DMG below or brew upgrade --cask g9-helper.
