Touch Pad
The touch pad is a translucent pointer overlay so a wall tablet can be used without greasing the glass. A finger moves on the pad; the cursor moves on the screen. The dashboard is only for looking.
Available since 0.7.6. Requires Android 7+. No root. It uses the standard overlay and Accessibility APIs.
Path: Ava Settings → Device services → Sidebar → Touch pad
There is also a sidebar entry. Triple-tap the bottom-left corner of the screen to raise the pad.
A wall panel is the most-touched glass in the house. Every tap leaves a fingerprint. Small HA buttons miss on the first try. Flour, oil, and water from the kitchen end up on the dashboard.
The pad keeps the finger on a dedicated surface at a comfortable height. The rest of the screen stays clean.
| Gesture | Action |
|---|---|
| Slide one finger | Move the cursor (acceleration curve: slow lands on a pixel, a flick crosses the screen) |
| Tap | Click |
| Long-press | Hold / drag |
| Two fingers | Back, or scroll |
| Three-finger pinch | Resize a floating app window |
| Three fingers down | Collapse the pad. The same gesture walks the cycle back open (0.7.7) |
| Four fingers down | Open the system notification shade (when enabled) |
Every move has haptic feedback on devices that have a vibrator.
A second pain is the same morning path every day: open this page, scroll here, tap that button.
- Press Record on the pad title bar
- Do the path once — taps, swipes, Back, and the pauses between them
- 0.7.7: keys typed on the keyboard are recorded too, and playback follows that pace
- On play, Ava returns to the page it was recorded on, then steps through. Each landing point flashes a mark
Five slots. Loopable. While the pad is shrunk small, slots 1–5 stay available — swipe sideways to see them. Deleting a slot, the trash can travels across to the item (0.7.7).
While an AI voice card is auto-scrolling a long sentence (“turn off the light and play some jazz”), a finger press on that card stops the scroll (0.7.7).
The pad itself does not raise an Overlay escape row. It cannot trap the panel.
- Android 7 or newer
- Overlay permission
- Accessibility service enabled (for click / swipe injection)
- No root, no Shizuku required
- The spoken language engine can replay a recorded slot as a pawn move — see LLM language engine
- Android 7+ only
- Overlay permission granted
- Accessibility enabled for Ava
- Triple-tap the bottom-left corner, or open it from the sidebar / Settings
Slow the finger near the target. The acceleration curve is steep on a flick. Recalibrate by lifting and placing again on the pad.
Playback first returns to the URL / overlay that was active when you pressed Record. If that page is gone, open it once, then play again.
