When writing text of any kind in a document of any kind, be aware of the semantic and hierarchical significance of each line of text, and make that significance clear by identifying it with the tools provided by the current program.
For example, in Word, instead of demonstrating a line of header text by making it bold and underlining it, style it appropriately with one of Word's "Heading" styles.
Not only does this allow the text to be better exported into other formats and with more meaning, it helps to ensure that the document itself is supported by a good sense structure. Further, if it becomes difficult to define the structure of the document, it may indicate that the content itself may require review.
