• cli / version frontmatter contract: both keys documented as OPTIONAL-but-mandatory-in-their-case across skill-creator agent and the skills authoring skill (FM Reference, checklist, common mistakes, review-prompt checks 23-24). cli names the command(s) a skill owns when the invocation isn't spelled like the skill directory name (e.g. fitness-nutrition invoked as fit); a fixed denylist blocks claiming a generic command (sh, bash, ls, curl, git, ...) and cli must never be inferred from allowed-tools. version is a free-form, non-semver change signal: bump it whenever a skill's behaviour lives outside its own directory (a binary on PATH, a wrapper baked into an image, a remote service), since editing that behaviour leaves the directory byte-identical and any consumer watching the dir's content hash sees nothing. updated: is a human-facing date only and does not substitute. This closes the plugin-side half of the skill-staleness contract: a host orchestrator on the consuming side detects a skill's content change by hash and tells a running agent its cached copy is stale — it needs both keys authored correctly to do that
