v0.6.0
pgcopy Release Notes
v0.6.0 – Safe streaming + predictable FK handling
Released: August 10, 2025
A compact stability release that makes streaming safe by default and simplifies foreign key handling without superuser rights.
Highlights
-
Atomic streaming copies
- Destination TRUNCATE + COPY run in one transaction; failures roll back cleanly
- Prevents the “table ended up empty after streaming” class of issues
-
Predictable foreign keys (no superuser)
- Drops all incoming FKs referencing planned tables before copy; restores at the end
- Best‑effort FK restore on graceful shutdown (SIGINT/SIGTERM)
- Backup file kept while FKs are dropped; removed after successful restore
-
Safer truncation in parallel
- Removed TRUNCATE … CASCADE from all paths; rely on FK strategy/replica mode
- Broadened FK discovery to include constraints referencing planned tables
Notes
- No breaking changes. Enable streaming via
--copy-pipe(optionally--compress). - When superuser is available, replica mode is used and global FK drop is skipped.
