rp2350-switch-pad v0.1.5

Licensing release. No code or firmware changes.

Downloads

  • rp2350-switch-pad-v0.1.5-windows.zip: the GUI as a Windows exe (unzip, run rp2350-switch-pad.exe) plus the firmware, README, changelog, license and third-party notices. The exe is unsigned, so Windows SmartScreen may warn on first run.
  • bridge.uf2: the board firmware on its own (identical to 0.1.0 - 0.1.4).

What changed since 0.1.4

  • The project is now MIT licensed (copyright komabear): see LICENSE.
  • THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md lists everything that is built on or bundled, with its license, and the zip now contains a licenses/ folder with the license texts (hidapi, OpenCV and its libraries, NumPy, sounddevice, pycaw, comtypes, Python, pico-sdk, TinyUSB, PIO-USB, LGPL-2.1 for pygame-ce, pyserial). The release build collects them automatically.

Known limitations

  • One pad per board.
  • The PIO-USB link goes idle when nothing talks to it; replug the PIO cable (see the README).
  • The capture card can wedge after sitting idle; replugging its USB cable recovers it.

rp2350-switch-pad v0.1.4

Capture card no-signal detection. No firmware changes.

Downloads

  • rp2350-switch-pad-v0.1.4-windows.zip: the GUI as a Windows exe (unzip, run rp2350-switch-pad.exe) plus the firmware, README and changelog. The exe is unsigned, so Windows SmartScreen may warn on first run.
  • bridge.uf2: the board firmware on its own (identical to 0.1.0 - 0.1.3).

What changed since 0.1.3

  • The capture window now recognises the card's "no valid video signal" picture (a static pattern of vertical stripes sent at a full 60 fps) and shows an explanation instead of the stripes. In practice the fix was unplugging the capture card's USB cable and plugging it back in (the card had sat idle for two hours); the message says so first, then suggests the HDMI cable and the Switch's video output (1080p, 60 Hz). The viewer also tries reopening the card now and then in this state.

Known limitations

  • One pad per board.
  • The PIO-USB link goes idle when nothing talks to it (for example after closing the GUI for a while); replug the PIO cable, see the README routine.
  • The UGREEN card can wedge after sitting idle or after some HDMI mode changes; replugging its USB cable recovers it.
  • Not yet tested: a real Parsec guest pad.

rp2350-switch-pad v0.1.3

Capture card stability release. No firmware changes.

Downloads

  • rp2350-switch-pad-v0.1.3-windows.zip: the GUI as a Windows exe (unzip, run rp2350-switch-pad.exe) plus the firmware, README and changelog. The exe is unsigned, so Windows SmartScreen may warn on first run.
  • bridge.uf2: the board firmware on its own (identical to 0.1.0 - 0.1.2).

What changed since 0.1.2

  • Capture card no longer drops out during play. The GUI listed all HID devices every 1-3 seconds to name your controllers, which made Windows query every USB device, including the capture card. The card then collapsed to 1-2 fps for several seconds, up to three times in two minutes. The listing now happens every 30 seconds. A 57-minute Mario Kart World session afterwards had no collapse at all.
  • Diagnostics: the capture window writes %APPDATA%\mayflash_switch2_controller\capture.log (problems, recoveries, a heartbeat every minute) and reopens the card when its frame rate collapses.
  • Clearer hint when the board link stops responding: replug only the PIO cable first.

Known limitations

  • One pad per board.
  • The PIO-USB link goes idle when nothing talks to it (for example after closing the GUI for a while); replug the PIO cable, see the README routine.
  • Some HDMI mode changes can leave the capture card itself stuck until the HDMI cable is replugged.
  • Not yet tested: a real Parsec guest pad.

rp2350-switch-pad v0.1.2

Capture window volume and stability release. No firmware changes.

Downloads

  • rp2350-switch-pad-v0.1.2-windows.zip: the GUI as a Windows exe (unzip, run rp2350-switch-pad.exe) plus the firmware, README and changelog. The exe is unsigned, so Windows SmartScreen may warn on first run.
  • bridge.uf2: the board firmware on its own (identical to 0.1.0 and 0.1.1).

What changed since 0.1.1

  • Volume: a slider in the GUI (0-100%, where 10% = unchanged and 100% = 10x), live while the window is open; mouse wheel and Up/Down inside the window. A soft limiter avoids harsh clipping.
  • Low-level warning: the GUI warns when Windows' own recording level for the capture card is low. The UGREEN card defaulted to 17%, which made it very quiet; set it to 100% in Settings > System > Sound > Input.
  • Audio crackle fixed: the audio now runs in its own helper process (the video drawing was starving it, about 100 cuts per 30 s), and a small buffer compensates the clock difference between the card and the sound card (about 15 gaps a minute before, 0 after).
  • Self-recovery: if the capture stream stalls or stays black, the viewer reopens the card by itself and shows "Waiting for the capture card / video signal..." instead of freezing or exiting.

Known limitations

  • One pad per board.
  • The PIO-USB link can freeze the board if connected out of order; follow the routine in the README.
  • Some HDMI mode changes (for example after console sleep) can leave the capture card itself stuck until the HDMI cable is replugged.
  • Not yet tested: a real Parsec guest pad, multi-hour sessions.

rp2350-switch-pad v0.1.1

Play your Switch 2 remotely: a Waveshare RP2350-USB-C pretends to be a wired PowerA controller, and a PC tool streams a gamepad to it.

Downloads

  • rp2350-switch-pad-v0.1.1-windows.zip: the GUI as a Windows exe (unzip, run rp2350-switch-pad.exe) plus the firmware, README and changelog. The exe is unsigned, so Windows SmartScreen may warn on first run.
  • bridge.uf2: the board firmware on its own. Hold BOOT, tap RST with the programming port plugged into the PC, and copy it to the RP2350 drive.

Use

Follow the connect order in the README (programming port to the dock first, PIO-USB port to the PC last, then start the GUI). The capture window uses ffmpeg only to list device names (winget install Gyan.FFmpeg).

Changes since 0.1.0

  • Windows exe build and release bundle; the capture window works from the exe.
  • No firmware changes (bridge.uf2 is the same as in 0.1.0).

Known limitations

  • One pad per board.
  • The PIO-USB link can freeze the board if connected out of order; see the README routine.
  • Not yet tested: a real Parsec guest pad, multi-hour sessions.
