Looking Ahead to CmpStr v4
The development of CmpStr v4 is planned for late 2026 and 2027 and will bring a number of substantial changes to the library. DiffChecker and TextAnalyzer are planned to be removed from CmpStr to further sharpen its focus on string comparison and similarity. They may eventually continue as separate npm packages. The new major version will also introduce a more pipeline-oriented architecture, providing greater control and a more explicit flow of operations.
Performance will remain a major focus, with further improvements to both execution time and memory usage. CmpStr v4 will also take the opportunity to provide stronger and more precise TypeScript types, alongside various architectural and API improvements. As a major version, CmpStr v4 will contain significant breaking changes and is intended as a cleaner, more focused and more modern foundation for the future development of the library.
