The first standalone LINE CLI release: use your personal LINE account from a terminal, with guided prompts for everyday use and JSON output for scripts.

What's included

  • line login, whoami, contacts, chats, messages, send, and logout.
  • Searchable chat selection, readable conversation history, and recipient names instead of copying IDs.
  • Letter Sealing encrypted text and generic file attachments up to 20 MiB.
  • Replies, six standard reactions, reaction removal, file downloads, and unsend.
  • Live events with line watch, saved resume position, and NDJSON output.
  • Native credential protection: macOS Keychain, Linux Secret Service, and Windows DPAPI.
  • A standalone CLI with the legacy Matrix/Beeper bridge removed; upstream MIT attribution retained.

Extract into a new directory, verify the included SHA256SUMS, and place line or line.exe on your PATH. SHA256SUMS.txt attached to this release also contains checksums for the six archives. Each archive includes the README, CLI reference, and MIT license. Go is not required to run these binaries.

On macOS, verify the extracted binary with shasum -a 256 -c SHA256SUMS; on Linux, use sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS. On Windows, compare Get-FileHash .\line.exe -Algorithm SHA256 with the included checksum.

Start with:

line version
line login
line chats
line messages
line send

Validation

Tagged CI passed on Linux, macOS, and Windows, including native Linux Secret Service and Windows DPAPI checks. All six release builds passed. The macOS Apple Silicon release binary passed local version/help startup checks without accessing a LINE account.

Requirements and current limits

  • Login needs an email/password configured in LINE and phone approval. This client uses a Chrome-style session and may replace another LINE Chrome extension session.
  • Linux needs secret-tool and an unlocked Secret Service keyring in the current D-Bus session. There is no plaintext credential fallback.
  • Binaries are unsigned and not notarized. macOS may require approval in Privacy & Security. Keep the executable at a stable path for Keychain access.
  • Recent message history is limited to 100 messages per read. File uploads are generic files, not specialized photo/video/audio messages.
  • Only one saved account is supported. Reading does not mark messages read; logout removes the local saved session.
  • Fresh group-key registration, some live token-refresh scenarios, and live watch message-event delivery still have validation gaps. No send is automatically retried after an uncertain result.

This is an independent client derived from beeper/line, not an official LINE product.
