Release list
GridSnap 0.1.7
- Keyboard control of the grid: it opens with the window's current cells outlined, arrow keys move the selection, Shift+arrows grow or shrink it, Return snaps, Shift+Return saves a preset, Esc cancels
- Losing focus, an outside click, the hotkey, presets and undo now cancel a live preview and restore the window first
GridSnap 0.1.6
- The grid now shows the windows you already snapped. Each one appears as a dim block at its current position, so the next window is easy to place beside it. Windows that are minimized, hidden or on another Space are left out.
Signed with the same Developer ID as 0.1.5, so an existing Accessibility grant carries over. Coming from 0.1.4 or earlier, see the 0.1.5 notes.
GridSnap 0.1.5
- Signed with a Developer ID certificate and notarized by Apple. The "Apple could not verify GridSnap" dialog and the Open Anyway step are gone; the app opens straight away.
- The hardened runtime is on, which stops other code from being injected into GridSnap.
Install note: the signing certificate changed, so macOS asks for Accessibility again once. If the GridSnap switch under System Settings › Privacy & Security › Accessibility is already on but snapping does nothing, remove GridSnap from the list and add it back.
GridSnap 0.1.4
- Windows that refuse to shrink to the chosen cell (apps with a minimum size) no longer hang off the edge of the screen. GridSnap reads the real frame back after snapping and shifts the window so it stays fully visible, overlapping the neighbouring cells instead. The same second pass also fixes windows landing slightly off the cell when moved between displays.
Same install notes as before: not notarized, so click Open Anyway under System Settings › Privacy & Security on first launch. Signed with the same certificate as earlier releases, so an existing Accessibility grant carries over.
GridSnap 0.1.3
- A Full screen preset on ⌃⌥F comes built in. It fills the screen minus menu bar, Dock and the gap setting. Rename, rekey or delete it in Settings like any other preset. It only shows up if you have never saved a preset; an existing preset list is left alone.
Same install notes as before: not notarized, so click Open Anyway under System Settings › Privacy & Security on first launch. Signed with the same certificate as 0.1.1 and 0.1.2, so an existing Accessibility grant carries over.
GridSnap 0.1.2
- No relaunch after granting Accessibility: GridSnap keeps running, notices the grant on its own and starts working right away. While waiting, the menu bar menu has a Grant Accessibility… item that opens the right pane in System Settings.
Same install notes as before: not notarized, so click Open Anyway under System Settings › Privacy & Security on first launch. Signed with the same certificate as 0.1.1, so an existing Accessibility grant carries over.
GridSnap 0.1.1
- The live preview now starts with the first drag instead of on mouse-down, so the window no longer collapses to a single cell when you press on the grid.
- The undo shortcut is configurable in Settings (default ⌃⌥Z).
- Settings and the new-preset dialog reliably open in front of other windows.
- Bundle id is now com.zerodivisionerror.gridsnap.
Same install notes as 0.1.0: not notarized, so click Open Anyway under System Settings › Privacy & Security on first launch, then grant Accessibility. If you're updating from 0.1.0 you'll be asked for Accessibility again because of the bundle id change.
GridSnap 0.1.0
First release. Universal binary, macOS 14 or later.
Unzip, drag to Applications, then on first launch click Open Anyway under System Settings › Privacy & Security (the app is not notarized) and grant Accessibility.
- Grid overlay with live preview, presets with their own shortcuts, undo, gaps, grid size, focused or under-cursor targeting, multiple displays.
