AI Camera 0.2.1 — Early Alpha

A compatibility update for the virtual camera. Everything else from 0.2.0 is unchanged.

Download and install

Download AICamera-0.2.1.pkg, open it, and follow macOS Installer. Open AI Camera from
Applications; the menu panel shows Update available for the camera extension. Choose it and
approve the updated extension when macOS asks. The host installer preserves settings, models, and
installed devices, and does not itself activate, replace, or remove any system component.

Requirements: macOS 14+, with Apple Silicon recommended. Runtime acceptance on Intel is not yet complete.

Fixed

• Black camera view in WhatsApp for Mac. WhatsApp and other Catalyst apps use the iOS capture
  pipeline, which rejects a 32BGRA camera format before requesting any frame. AI Camera now publishes
  camera-native 420v formats with a continuous 1–60 fps range, converting its frames on the way out.
  QuickTime and other native apps keep working; the format change also lets a call app pick 640x480,
  1280x720, or 1920x1080 and any frame rate in range without the feed changing under it.

Known limitations

See the 0.2.0 notes for the alpha limitations that still apply: use AI Camera's own
Mute to hide captions, one caption language at a time, gesture sensitivity to lighting,
experimental Codex login, physical inputs only, and no automatic updater.

Privacy, removal, and support

Unchanged from 0.2.0. Local models process on your Mac; enabling OpenAI features sends microphone
audio to OpenAI. AI Camera does not record raw media.
