KDE is getting rid of the kde-blur protocol since ext-background-effect is merged into wayland. This might mean that kitty blur won't function on KDE anymore with the coming version.
I believe the best solution would be to implement support for ext-background-effect, which would also mean that blur would work on other wayland compositors which follow the standard like for example Niri in an upcoming version.
