Happy Comments has been in the works for a while, and it's finally in good enough shape to slap a tag on. Its purpose is to let people follow a discussion in your comment section by email. Tick a box under the comment form, confirm the double opt-in email, and get a note when somebody else joins in. Proper one-click unsubscribe, and a consent record solid enough to hold up if anyone ever asks about it.

Aaaaand that's where you come in. “Beta” is an arbitrary word. I've had it running on a test site, and the alpha versions taught me plenty. Well, mostly by breaking in ways I hadn't previously thought of. But what I can't test on my own is email. Every host and every SMTP setup behaves a little differently, and that's the part most likely to fail on us right now. If you can spare a little time and have a site to test this on, please install it, subscribe to the comments on one of your posts, and tell me what breaks.

Bug reports, praises, and suggestions for additional features are all welcome in Issues.
