@kristofferR kristofferR released this 23 Sep 23:08

Exposé 5.0 makes settings easier to understand and improves workspace and multi-display behavior.

What's changed

  • Six settings pages: Appearance, Windows, Window labels, Workspaces, Hot corner, and Motion. Controls now include explanatory text and clearer labels, with scrolling and keyboard navigation that work on smaller panels.
  • Choose whether Exposé opens with all workspaces or the current workspace. Tab still switches between them.
  • Shorten monitor-prefixed workspace names to their slot number, such as Monitor:3 becoming 3.
  • Every display gets the overview backdrop, while the window grid stays on the display where Exposé opened. Input stays with the overview across displays, and backdrop clicks dismiss it without clicking through.
  • Hot corners use the outermost display by default, with an option to activate them on every display.

Existing settings are preserved. Settings section shortcuts are now 1–6.

Update

omarchy plugin update expose.window-overview --yes
omarchy-shell expose close
omarchy restart shell

Restart Omarchy Shell after updating so imported QML components load the new settings panel.

Validated with ./validate, including QML unit tests, runtime layout and focus checks at three widths, QML lint, shell checks, and plugin manifest validation. The new settings panel was also verified on the live desktop.

Hot corners now support a configurable activation delay from 0 to 1000 ms. Set it in Settings → Hot corner or with omarchy-shell expose hotCornerDelay 250. The default remains 0 for instant activation. Leaving the corner cancels the pending activation, and moving between the overlapping corner strips preserves the dwell timer. #23

Blur sessions now use a directory lock opened read-only, avoiding file truncation through a planted lock-file symlink. #24

Validated with the QML suite, five focused hot-corner cases, QML lint, shell and manifest validation, blur-lock checks, and settings/theme runtime tests.

Settings now load and persist reliably, including rapid edits, hot-corner preferences, and animation settings. Updates preserve unrelated plugin settings and unknown fields. #21

Window previews now follow Hyprland's actual border width, colors, gradients, and transparency. Settings controls and other surfaces respect Omarchy theme tokens, including zero-width borders and square corners. Blur and dim behavior are unchanged. #22

Validated with 29 QML checks, lint, shell and manifest validation, and settings/theme runtime tests. Manually tested with Evergreen and a light theme with rounded corners.
