First release of Remove Tabs: whatever you have open is the only tab, and the tab bar is gone.

Features

  • Links and "open in new tab" actions (Cmd/Ctrl+click, middle-click, the New tab command) open in the current tab instead of a new one.
  • Any extra tabs, whether from a saved layout, drag-and-drop or another plugin, are closed automatically, keeping the one you're viewing.
  • The tab bar is hidden in the main editor area and in popout windows.
  • Sidebar toggle buttons stay usable: they float in the note header when a sidebar is collapsed.
  • On macOS with the hidden title bar, the note header leaves room for the window buttons, and you can drag the window by the empty space beside the note title.

Not affected

  • Sidebar tabs (File explorer, Search, Outline, etc.)
  • Split panes and popout windows. Each holds one note.

Heads-up

  • Turning the plugin on closes every open tab except the current one.
  • Cmd/Ctrl+T replaces the current note with an empty page.
  • Tested on Obsidian 1.12.7 (macOS). Mobile is untested.
