Meridian 2.3.29
No coding. No typing commands. Just tap.
Meridian 2.3.29 is the biggest update since v1.8.6 and the first release since we made Meridian open source under the MIT License. Every feature is now free for everyone: no licence key, no trial, no paywall. Meridian turns Termux into buttons with plain descriptions, so you can set up tools, run a local language model on your phone, or follow a step by step Plan without knowing a single command.
Highlights
- Errors are recognized automatically and fixed with one tap. When a command fails in the Console, Meridian reads the output and shows a matching button right under the error: Release the lock, Finish the install, Use the main mirror or Install the missing tool. One press fixes it, no need to open Doctor. A Termux that fell asleep gets an Open Termux button, and a broken Vulkan link gets Repair Vulkan.
- Open source and fully free. Meridian is MIT licensed. All paywall, trial, preview, lock and licence key code is gone from both the web UI and the Java bridge.
- Support & Plans screen. The old Plans page is now Support & Plans, with an optional Donate button, Get support (opens email) and Source code. Donating changes nothing in the app.
- Mesh screen and local models. A new Mesh screen with the mesh terminal packaged into the Android build. Mesh can download models, read pages, run questions through the bundled skill trees, load Gemma from the shipped config, and reuse a model that is already in your Downloads folder.
- Mesh v2 bundle. Worker, router, Add links and a
my-knowledge/folder, plus sandbox sets and a startup fix. - Shizuku. Install an APK through Shizuku straight from Meridian.
- Voice. Mesh listening wakes only when the saved name is spoken.
- New look. OLED theme, settings, shortcuts, a restored live dashboard with clocks and carrier, refreshed logo, and redesigned studio, Termux and Plan pages.
- Hardware accuracy. More accurate phone readings on the dashboard.
Fixes
- Console: the command bar stays right above the soft keyboard and the layout comes back when the keyboard closes.
- Console: output stays scrolled to the latest line and the prompt is focused after each command.
- Console: compact landscape toolbar, taller output, long commands wrap, and the command bar no longer overlaps the side navigation in landscape.
- Shell output is capped and commands are passed as one quoted script, so long or complex commands run reliably.
- Gemma downloads fetch the model file instead of the Hugging Face homepage.
- Plan steps and plan text stay on screen; dark theme is separate from the system setting.
- Back stack, scrolling, Termux labels, motion and translations.
- Grid labels match their icons; the intro page shows after Next.
- The Android navigation bar stays hidden until you swipe up, and the window fits the strip the hidden status bar left empty.
Notes
- Release-signed build, built from tag v2.3.29 (commit 7f11858) and signed with the Meridian release key. Signing certificate SHA-256:
46f1f9434707233634a6362e46ab726ac0ac7aecb1386f906d35a70be45a9ec5. Check it withapksigner verify --print-certs Meridian-2.3.29.apk. - Uninstall first if you have v1.8.6 or the earlier 2.3.29 debug APK. Those were signed with a different key, so Android will refuse to update over them. Uninstall the old app, then install this APK. Future updates will be signed with this same key and will install over it.
- Requires Android 8.0 or newer and Termux from F-Droid. In Termux, run
echo "allow-external-apps=true" >> ~/.termux/termux.propertiesandtermux-reload-settings, then press Connect in Meridian. - Plan answers offline from its built-in recipes. For goals beyond those, you connect your own API key from a platform of your choice; it is stored encrypted on the phone and used only when you press Plan.
- Verify the download with the attached
